Bhavana Ramanna gave courage to countless women leading a single life, that motherhood is possible. Her story is no ordinary one, as she chose a road less travelled. At the age of 40, Bhavana decided to embrace motherhood, but the journey wasn't easy as she wasn't married and was living a single life. While there were a few who questioned her choice, Bhavana revealed her father and her family's reaction to her pregnancy.
Recently, in an interview with The Times of India, Bhavana revealed how her father reacted to her decision to undergo IVF after she found the right clinic near her home. She stated that he was overjoyed and appreciated her choice as it was her 'right to get pregnant as a woman'. Talking about it, Bhavana revealed:
"I remember coming home and telling my father I had begun IVF treatment. He was overjoyed. He said, 'You’re a woman — and you have every right to become a mother'. My siblings rallied around me, offering unwavering support. That kind of community is vital for any single mother. Of course Of course, there have been a few who questioned my choice, asked if this was the right path. I told them, simply and couldn't be more sure."
Bhavana revealed how it was extremely difficult for her to opt for IVF. She stated that for the longest time, the law didn't support single or unwed women to try IVF treatment. But when the legal framework changed, she started reaching out to IVF clinics. She revealed they resisted and denied her. However, after numerous rejections, she found a clinic near her home and began her journey. To her surprise, Bhavana got lucky in the first attempt.
For the unversed, in India, the legal age to try IVF treatment is from 20 to 50 years. At the age of 40, Bhavana felt the urge to embrace motherhood. On July 4, 2025, Bhavana took to her Instagram handle and posted two pictures flaunting her baby bump. She was dressed in an asymmetrical kurta paired with white trousers. Her hair was left open, with subtle makeup and a bindi.
Along with this, Bhavana shared her journey as a single woman who has never been married. She revealed the decision to embrace motherhood through assisted reproduction. She called it a new chapter and revealed that she never imagined it, but she is six months pregnant with twins. She wrote:

"New Chapter, A New Rhythm I never imagined I’d be saying this — but here I am, six months pregnant with twins, and filled with gratitude. In my 20s and 30s, motherhood wasn't on my mind. But when I turned 40, the desire was undeniable. As a single woman, the road wasn’t easy — many IVF clinics rejected me outright."
