Under his guru's guidance, 'Kittan' learns to turn pain into power, therefore not defeating only the brutal opposition on the court, but also the system that saw his talent as a threat and tried to dim his light. During the climax, 'Kittan' defies the hierarchy by reclaiming his self-identity with his strength and self-respect. The imagery of the bison in this movie is metaphorical, just like the animal, 'Kittan', cannot be controlled, therefore representing strength, survival, resilience, fearlessness, and obviously determination.
