Popular Bollywood playback singer, Sonu Nigam needs no introduction. The singer has countless iconic chartbusters in his discography and a massive fan base of millions. A recent Padma Shri recipient, the singer has featured in several music videos. And now, a recent report suggests that the singer’s father has met with a misfortune.
According to a recent report by The Times Of India, Sonu Nigam’s father, Agam Kumar Nigam, suffered a theft and lost Rs. 72 lakhs from his house in Andheri, Mumbai. After an FIR was lodged at the nearby police station, it was found that the accused was none other than their ex-driver, who planned it as revenge on the family after they fired them eight months ago. The driver further accepted that he had entered the house using a duplicate key and committed the burglary. Later, the police recovered all the money from one of the cars of the accused.

About a month back, the Sonu Nigam witnessed harsh behaviour at one of his concerts. In a video circulated by one of the fan pages of the singer, it was visible how he was manhandled and physically hurt by some political goons who attacked him mid-concert. The scuffle reportedly occurred when they forced Sonu for a selfie, and upon refusal, they not only hurt him but also threw aside his friend-cum-manager off the stage.
Sonu Nigam was awarded the fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri, in 2022. The singer was recognised and felicitated for contributing his voice to more than 4000 songs in 10 different languages. While the moment was indeed special for Sonu, it was even more nostalgic for his dear wife, Madhurima Nigam, who was spotted getting emotional about her husband’s grand win.

In an old interview with Times Now, the singer was once asked about his son, Neevan and questioned whether he, too, would follow in his daddy's footsteps and be a part of the Bollywood music industry. For the unversed, Sonu’s son, Neevan, also has musical taste and has accompanied his father on stage several times with his melodious voice. However, Sonu responded very differently and mentioned how he does not want his son to become a singer, particularly in India. In his words:
"Frankly, I don't want him to be a singer, at least not in this country. He is a born singer, but he has another interest in life. He is a brilliant child with a lot of qualities and talent. And I don't want to tell him what to do. Let's see what he wants to do himself."
