Boney Kapoor has been one of the oldest and most renowned filmmakers in Indian cinema. Following the legacy of his father, Surinder Kapoor, Boney has left his impeccable mark and has delivered some of the most iconic films, including Mr India, Hum Paanch, Khushi, Judaai, Wanted, Pukar, Sirf Tum among many others. Currently, he is basking in the success of his latest release, Maidaan featuring Ajay Devgn. In his personal life, he is enjoying some of the best moments with his four children, Arjun Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
In a recent interaction with Galatta Plus, Boney Kapoor recalled the most difficult phase of time he and his brothers endured after their father, Surinder Kapoor landed into debt and was even thrown out of jobs. The filmmaker remarked that since his father was brought to Mumbai by Prithviraj Kapoor, thus, after lacking a roof on their head, his entire family ended up living on the outhouse of Raj Kapoor’s property, which was basically a servant’s quarter. Recalling the past, Boney stated:

“My father was brought to Bombay by Prithviraj Kapoor. My grandfather handed over my father to Prithviraj ji because my father left about 10-12 jobs. Left, in the sense, he was thrown out because he was siding with and supporting the workers, fought for their causes. My father was in debt. We lived in Raj Kapoor’s outhouse, where servants and drivers lived.”

Moving further in the conversation, Boney Kapoor remarked that it was during this state of financial trouble due to their father, Surinder Kapoor, that Anil Kapoor decided to step into acting. Boney revealed how the two brothers didn’t want to trouble their father more and land him up into more stress, since he already suffered from a heart ailment. In his words:
“When my grandmother passed away, Anil and I decided that he will do acting and I will take over the production. Somebody had to run the show at home also. My father had a heart problem, we didn’t want to give him stress.”
In an earlier interaction with Connect FM Canada, Boney Kapoor talked about his physical transformation, now that he lost about 15kgs of weight in about six months. The 68-year-old filmmaker credited his four kids, who constantly worried about his health and convinced him to switch over to a healthier lifestyle.

Previously, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Boney Kapoor talked about his eldest son, Arjun Kapoor and opened up on the latter being the pillar of strength in the entire family. The proud dad agreed that his son had seen some of the most difficult times in his life, and with the passage of time, he has indeed evolved to be the most balanced person ever. In his words:
“Arjun is also very sure of himself, waiting for the right opportunity. He knows that he has made some wrong choices but the time will come. The fact is that he has not lost his balance despite some setbacks, speaks a lot of his character. I feel he is the strongest in the family, although where life is concerned, where career is concerned, he has been through some kind of turmoil.”
