Boney Kapoor Shuts Rumours Of Sridevi Being Pregnant Before Marriage, 'It Was In January 1997...'

Sridevi was an enigmatic actress in the Indian cinema, who had a career spanning over 50 years. The diva, who began her acting career at the mere age of 4, was often hailed for her spectacular performances. Just like her professional life, Sridevi’s personal life garnered a lot of attention when she fell in love with the already-married filmmaker, Boney Kapoor.

Ever since Boney met Sridevi, he was smitten with her beauty and simplicity. For the unversed, Boney Kapoor was married to Mona Shourie Kapoor when he fell in love with Sridevi and was a proud father of two kids, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. In 1996, Boney and Sridevi had tied the knot. There were a lot of reports in the media back then of how Sridevi was a home wrecker and that she got pregnant before marriage.

Boney Kapoor rubbishes rumours of Sridevi being pregnant before marriage

In a recent interview with The New Indian, Boney Kapoor spoke about his secret wedding with Sridevi. The producer also shut rumours of the actress being pregnant before their marriage. Revealing why he had no choice other than marrying her publicly, Boney said:

“My marriage to Sri took place in Shirdi, on June 2. That’s when we exchanged vows. We were there, we spent the night there. And it was only in January 1997, when her pregnancy was seen, that we had no choice but to marry publicly. In public, we were married only in January 1997. There are still some scribes who write that Janhvi was conceived before marriage.”

After being married for 13 years, Boney Kapoor got into an extra-marital affair with Sridevi. In the same interview, he also revealed being absolutely honest towards his first wife, Mona Shouri Kapoor and said:

“I’m not a powerful family man; I’m just a simple family man. A caring, loving son, brother, husband to my wife, father to my children Arjun, Anshula, Janhvi, Khushi. In fact, even with Mona I was absolutely honest. The best way to describe me would be, ‘a simple, honest man who has been sincere to everybody around him’.”

When Mona Shourie Kapoor talked about Boney Kapoor’s affair with Sridevi

In 2012, Mona Shourie Kapoor passed away after giving a tough fight to cancer. However, once in a media interaction with DNA, Mona bared her heart out on Boney’s affair with Sridevi. Revealing how there was no looking back for him as Sridevi was already with a child, Mona stated:

“A second relationship was something that one had only read or heard about. But when it happened to me, at that very point my marriage was over. Respect, for me, is foremost. Love follows that. As we evolve, sometimes needs change. Boney too needed somebody else; not me. There was nothing left in the relationship to give it a chance because Sridevi was already with a child. Their rishta was kayam. That itself was a big statement for me to opt-out."
