Bride Gets Scolded By Parents For Taking Work Call Right In The Middle Of 'Mandap', 'Try Sitting..'

Weddings are fun in India, with all the showsha, glamour, and nokjhok. While it is a dream of every girl to get dressed in a red lehenga and enjoy the happiest day of her life, an Indian origin bride was left with no option but to attend a work meeting on the mandap of her own wedding. As the video is going viral, the internet is calling out the toxic work environment, which doesn't let a person enjoy their best moments. But the bride chose to share her side of the story and not just listen to the critics.

The bride takes a work call on the day of the wedding

Recently, a December bride's photo went viral. In the picture, the bride was dressed up in a red lehenga with heavy jewellery and a varmala. Her groom sat beside her as she took a work call on her laptop right in the middle of her wedding. The picture might show a sweet moment of the couple's teamwork as life partners, but many criticised the bride, who took up the work right at her own wedding. 

The woman in the picture is an Indian-origin tech entrepreneur and co-founder of San Francisco-based AI startup KoyalAI, Gauri Agarwal. The picture was shared by her brother, Mehul, on his social media handle, X. He mentioned that his sister, who is a co-founder of their startup, is busy fixing a critical bug. The bride's brother quickly added that their parents yelled at them. He wrote:

"People romanticize startups but it is a lot of work. This is my sister & co-founder @gauri_al at her own wedding, 10 minutes after ceremony, fixing a critical bug at @KoyalAINot a photo op, parents yelled at both of us. When people ask why we won, I'll point to this."

Bride gets trolled for taking up work right in her wedding mandap

While some loved the bride's zeal, others criticised her. One user wrote, "I’m deeply committed to my career, but not at the cost of missing the moments that matter most to me." Another user pointed that if it was her husband, she would be complaining, "It gotta be performative, if it's not then she should learn to set her priorities straight. There's a time for everything. She would still be complaining if her husband did the same thing. 'Oh, you're not giving me attention'." 

The brother, Mehul, further wrote in his tweet that the bride is on honeymoon and taking three-hour work calls, which is not liked by the husband, "She's currently on honeymoon but taking meetings 3 hours a day. The husband is not happy lol." The bride also shared her side of the story and slammed all those trolling her. She wrote, "Try sitting for hours at an Indian reception, and you will want to code more than ever before…" In reply, another user wrote, "But this was your wedding, not your reception. Anyways how will you get this humane things when you are busy building an insult to human spirit."
