The tension between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025. Following this, India gave a response through Operation Sindoor. The Indian Armed Forces dedicatedly and bravely replied to the back-to-back missile and drone attacks of Pakistan on our country, and some of the brave souls, while protecting our country, lost their lives. One of them has been BSF SI, Mohammad Imtiaz. Mohammad Imtiaz lost his life while fighting on the front line on the Pakistani border in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mohammad Imtiaz was leading a BSF border outpost and the front row during Operation Sindoor in the R S Pura section of the Jammu border. However, the braveheart lost his life during the Pakistan shelling. It was on May 12, 2025, when his mortal remains reached Patna. A wreath-laying ceremony was held for Mohammad Imtiaz at the Patna airport, and he was given a guard of honour by security personnel. It was Mohammad Imtiaz's son, Imran Raza, who was present at the airport with tears and pride in his eyes.
Mohammad Imtiaz bid farewell to the battlefield and the world on May 10, 2025, and talking about the same, his son stated that he's proud of his dad, who fought till the last breath and didn't give up. Raza also stated that his father sacrificed his life for the country, and he is proud of what his dad did. Mohammad Imtiaz's son recalled the last call from his dad, when BSF SI told his son that the terrorists had fired on his right leg, which got damaged. Raza told his dad not to lose hope and mentioned that he would reach out to meet him soon. For the unversed, Mohammad Imtiaz returned to his duty only 18 days after his Eid holiday with his family. Raza tried to hold back his tears as he said:
"I am really proud of my father who did not give up till his last breath and sacrificed his life for the country. Last time papa called me at 5:30 a.m. (May 10) saying that terrorists had attacked and his right leg was damaged. I told my father not to lose hope as I was coming to meet him.”
Mohammad Imtiaz's son, Raza further mentioned how he reached Delhi, and couldn't get a flight to Jammu, thus, he caught the train, and by 3 p.m., the situation was under control, and his dad was out of danger. Raza revealed that it was at 6 p.m. when he got a call from the assistant commandant, who informed him that his father was no more. Stating that he couldn't get a chance to talk to his dad for one last time, Raza broke down. In his words:
"I boarded the flight for Delhi but when I reached there, I was informed that there was no flight for Jammu. Then I travelled by train. Till 3 p.m., the situation was under control and he was out of danger. I received a call from one assistant commandant at 6 p.m. who informed me that my father was no more. I could not get the chance to even speak to my father in his final moments."
Mohammad Imtiaz fought bravely for the nation, and his martyrdom left people hurt in his village. Mohammad Imtiaz's brother is also a BSF SI, who revealed how brave the former used to be, and promised that he would keep the martyr's inspiration alive.
