BTS' Jungkook's Home Trespassed By Woman, Inside The Many Scary 'Sasaeng' Fan Encounters Of The Idol

BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) is one of the most influential boy bands in the world, whose fan base has expanded beyond the borders of their home country, South Korea. The seven idols of the group have always been thankful to their fans for making them reach the heights of global stardom. However, there have been fans of the boy band who have toed the line between being a stan and an obsessive stalker of BTS.

Recently, an incident came to light in which a woman trespassed into BTS member Jungkook's apartment. This has not only raised security concerns for the idol but has also once again brought attention to the 'sasaeng' phenomenon, which is increasingly prevalent among fans of the band. Along with the details of the recent incident, here's a list of some of Jungkook's scary encounters with obsessive fans.

A woman tried to trespass on Jungkook's apartment but was arrested

A report by the Korea Herald stated that a woman in her 40s had entered the underground parking lot of BTS's youngest member, Jeon Jung-kook, popularly known as Jungkook. The woman, who entered the idol's building, had done so by tailing an incoming car. After a security guard noticed the stalker on the CCTV, she was arrested by the police. The trespasser initially claimed that she was visiting a friend's house, but investigations are ongoing.

Jungkook's house was trespassed on the day he got discharged from the military

As South Korean law requires all the man to serve in the country's army for two years, all seven BTS members took a hiatus to fulfil their military service. In June 2025, Jungkook was finally discharged after completing his service. However, the happy occasion was marred by another stalker-fan who tried to enter his home. The trespasser was a Chinese woman in her 30s who had visited South Korea to “to see Jungkook after his military discharge.” She had also tried to enter Jungkook's door pass-code, after which the nearby residents took notice and she was arrested. Hence, within a span of three months, the idol's house has been tried to be broken into by two women.

When fans sent Jungkook food and kept calling his hotel room

Though many other BTS members have also faced scary encounters with fans, Jungkook has been on the receiving end of this stalkerish behaviour more often than others. During BTS's Las Vegas Tour, Jungkook came on a livestream and addressed how fans had been constantly calling his hotel room. The idol said that his phone ringing was 'chilling' for him at the moment, and also stated:

“It’s annoying. It’s scary. It’s disturbing."

In 2013, Jungkook took to his Weverse platform and revealed how he had been receiving food deliveries at his home from fans. The singer said that he appreciates the gesture, but he won't eat the food. Jungkook also warned his fans to stop sending him food, as he would use the receipts to take action against them. Jungkook wrote:

“Please don’t send food to my house. I won’t eat it. I appreciate the gesture, but I take good care of myself. If this happens again, I will track the receipt and take action. Please stop.”

What are 'Sasaengs' that continue to violate the privacy of Jungkook and other BTS members?

Along with Jungkook, another BTS member, Kim Tae-hyung, known as V, has also encountered many obsessive stalkers. V once revealed that many times when he takes regular flights, instead of chartered ones, some fans somehow find out all the information about his flights and book seats next to him. The idol found these encounters to be very uncomfortable and scary. However, the most worrying incident faced by V was when a woman in her 20s had stalked him for a long time, finding out details about his car, his house address, and one day, followed him to his building's elevator. She then handed him a marriage certificate with both of their name and information, which later helped the police to locate and arrest her.

This case ignited the problematic instances of 'Sasaeng' behaviour, which has been plaguing the K-pop and Korean entertainment industry. 'Sasaeng' is the word used for the obsessive fans with stalker tendencies who form extreme parasocial relationships with K-pop idols or K-drama actors and go to unimaginable lengths to stalk them. From violating privacy and breaking into houses to attacking celebrities, the increasing 'Sasaeng' phenomenon has become a worrying topic among South Korean celebrities.
