However, at the age of 93, he had found love perhaps for the last time in Anca Faur, and the two had tied the knot. But fate had other plans. Anca, who was 66, passed away on October 28, 2025. Dr. Anca Faur was a Ph.D. scholar 

Dr. Anca Faur was a chemistry whiz. She was a chemical engineer who had pursued a degree, studying organic chemistry at Politehnica University of Timisoara, Romania, according to a People report. Then she earned her doctorate in chemical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Apart from that, Dr. Anca had also worked as a research assistant at the university. 

Dr. Anca had served as the Vice President of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC since 2019. She held this position at his company till the day she passed away. As a result, even before they announced their marriage in 2020, Buzz Aldrin and Anca were seen together at many high-profile business events. Before joining the former astronaut's company, Dr. Anca had held different positions as a senior scientist. Anca was also invited to the White House for the Apollo 11 Lunar landing, marking 50 years. She and Buzz Aldrin were spotted together touring the exhibit. By this point, their relationship had not yet been confirmed. 

Buzz Aldrin and Anca Faur tied the knot in 2023

According to reports, Buzz Aldrin and Anca Faur had started dating since 2018, after they met at a work event. In an interview with People, Buzz Aldrin had stated that when he met Anca, he had seen something very special in her. He had shared:

"When I met Anca I instantly recognized that here was a woman who is the whole Wizard of Oz package: Brains. Heart. Courage. There is something special about her and the way we connect so well."

On the occasion of his 93rd birthday, Buzz Aldrin took to his X account and shared with the world that he had tied the knot with his 'long-time love', Anca Faur, on January 20, 2023. The 93-year-old had also shared with People that it had taken him a few years to convince Anca, then 64, to become a bride. On his X account, Aldrin had shared:

"On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot. We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers."

Buzz Aldrin's wife, Anca Faur, died at the age of 66, two years after their marriage 

Two years after making the delightful announcement about his marriage to his 'long-time love', Buzz Aldrin took to his Facebook to share the dreadful news that his love, Anca, had passed away peacefully in her sleep. As per the shared note, she was surrounded by her husband and her son, Vlad Ghenciu, when she breathed her last. The statement read:

"Dr. Anca Aldrin, wife of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, peacefully passed away last night with her husband and her son, Vlad Ghenciu by her side. Mrs. Aldrin, an accomplished chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, served as the treasurer for the California Hydrogen Business Council and as Executive Vice President of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC. 'I am so fortunate to have found and married the love of my life,' said General Aldrin. 'She brought joy to everything we did together. I will miss her dearly'."
