Who was C Sankaran Nair? Whose character will be played by Akshay Kumar in Kesari Chapter 2

While the movie is based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the portrayal of  C Sankaran Nair by Akshay Kumar will bring a new light to the screens. Akshay, who is known for his real-life hero characters, will showcase C Sankaran Nair's life through his acting prowess, which will cover the latter's life, struggles, triumphs, and mainly his contribution to India's independence. There's no denying the fact that the motif behind this was to make the Indian cine-lovers more adapted to the rich Indian history and to let them learn about the unsung heroes of our country.

Talking about C Sankaran Nair, he was a famous lawyer and politician from Kerala. He was born in 1857 and had a huge role to play in India's struggle against British colonialism. With his swift speaking skills and grasp of legal acumen, he gathered public support and led a reform movement, which further resulted in him passing the Government of India Act in 1919. This was a huge step for India to govern itself, which eventually led to India's independence. He had fought really hard for India's independence and proved to be a challenge to the British Raj.

C Sankaran Nair began his career as a lawyer in 1890 as a lawyer at the Madras High Court, and was a permanent judge there from 1908 to 1915. In 1987, C Sankaran Nair served as the first Indian President of the Indian National Congress. Apart from that, he also was appointed to one of the highest posts during British colonialism that any Indian could achieve, which was of an official of the Viceroy's Council. After the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919, he resigned from the official position of Viceroy's Council, thereby directly challenging the colonial rule, which very few people had done back then. He also wrote a book, Gandhi and Anarchy, wherein he directly addressed the brutality of colonial government against Indians. For the same reason, reportedly, a defamation case was lodged against him.
