Cafe Owner, Puneet Khurana's Sister Share His Wife Provoked Him To Die, 'Himmat Hai Toh Marke Dikha'

It has not even been a month since a Bangaluru-based techie, Atul Subhash, took his own life after his wife and in-laws tortured him and demanded an atrocious amount of alimony. Now, another heart-wrenching incident shook us all from Delhi. Here, the owner of the popular Woodbox cafe in Delhi, Puneet Khurana, took his own life on New Year's Eve. His body was found hanging in his Model Town house.

Puneet Khurana's sister shared that his wife, Manika Jagdish used to torture him

Puneet and his wife, Manika, tied the knot in 2016 and co-owned a cafe. The duo reportedly got into an argument catering to their business objectives around the cafe, and it aggrivated to such an extent that they decided to part ways. The couple's divorce proceedings are ongoing, and Manika was the last person Puneet talked to before taking his own life.

After Puneet's death, his sister, Leena, came to the forefront and shared that her brother was brutally tortured by his wife and in-laws. His wife even used to abuse him and mentally torture her brother. She added that Manika asked Puneet to pay for her lawyer and even warned him that she would get his parents and relatives beaten up if he didn't follow her orders. As per a report by Republic, Leena has revealed some heart-wrenching details about her brother's suicide in an hour-long video and shared that Manika even said. 'himmat hai toh marke dikha' to her brother. This is the second incident where a man took his own life after Atul Subhash's incident.

Manika Panhwa's last IG story before her husband commited suicide

Manika, the wife of Delhi cafe owner Puneet Khurana, who died by suicide on December 31, posted a cryptic message on social media just days before the tragedy. In her post, Manika Pahwa said that she was subjected to 'toxicity and narcissistic abuse' and was now free, adding that feminism suits her. In her social media post, Pahwa didn’t name anyone directly but shared her belief that kindness, love, and respect should be extended to everyone. She also hinted at higher powers, which she believes decide what is best for those who had wronged her.

"Well feminism suits me, as idealistic values are my core & feminism means giving & getting mere respect. To one another. No slave treatment, and no stopping some girl to speak her mind (sic). Even a house help, guard, rikshawala, a tiny kid deserves respectful treatment. Once a coward fought with me that 'respect has to be earned'. Ufff! What disgrace na? I disagree, respect has to be given to each and everyone. If not then you lost the respect baby. Phew! Maybe that's why in India, we address people with 'aap', 'bhaiya', 'didi' to even strangers, isn't it?"

Manika's wish carries a sense of hope. She longs for the day when 'these abusers get to see the mirror someday' and understand the value of kindness, love, understanding, trust, wisdom, affection and care. She believes that these virtues are more important than money, property and gold, and her wish resonates with a hopeful optimism.
