Cardi B Was 'Overwhelmed' On Her Assault Trial Being Televised, She Admitted To Dozing Off In Court

Rapper, Cardi B was recently involved in a highly publicised legal case. It was a civil trial for assault allegations levied on her by a female security guard. The court proceedings commenced in late August 2025 and concluded on September 2, 2025. Most parts of the trial were televised, keeping nothing from the public eye. This is something any individual would want, whether they are a commoner or a celebrity like Cardi B. She recently expressed her frustration about having to go through the phase.

Cardi B was not happy with the televised trial of her assault case

Cardi B's court trial received lots of traction, with fans praising her no-nonsense replies to even unprofessional questions like what her real hair colour was. Her trial was followed closely by a large group of fans, who expressed their support for her. Although the 32-year-old rapper was cleared of the charges and emerged stronger from the trial, she was unhappy about the entire experience. During her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday, September 15, 2025, she shared that she was 'overwhelmed' with the court proceedings.

It was the first time Cardi B reacted to her court experience following the verdict day. She shared on the daytime show that she was 'very upset' about having to go through the trial proceedings amid her preparations for her new album. Moreover, the televising of the legal case made her even more inundated. Besides the time period being crucial for her career, it was also supposed to be a joyous family time as her child was to attend their first day of school. But the rapper had to miss it for the trial, which saddened her. She said:

"I was very, very upset. I'm in the middle of an album rollout, and I have to go to court. Then, when I get to court, I realise that it's going to be on national TV, being televised. It's like, 'You've got to be kidding me.' I missed my kids' first day of school!"

Cardi B admitted to dozing off mid-trial

The Up singer is known for her eccentric antics and fun personality. She demonstrated her uniqueness once again when she was seen yawning and even dozing off mid-trial. Jennifer Hudson asked her to comment on the viral video of the camera zooming in on her asleep face. Cardi B admitted that she indeed was struggling to keep her eyes open, as she was extremely tired back then. She had a 'long night' as she was busy working on her new album until late at night. Laughing and stating that she was trying to 'fight' her sleep, Cardi B mentioned:

"I'm not even going to lie, I was [asleep]. I had a long night! I'm in the middle of an album rollout. I was so sleepy, I was trying to fight it."
