As soon as a couple gets married, they are bombarded with the question, ‘Bacha kab kar rahe ho?’ The couple is advised to start their family soon because the nana-nani, dada-dadi, wants to see the face of their pota-poti, dhewata-dhewati soon. And if you are a celebrity, the pressure comes not only from the family or friends but also from the fans. They start to speculate their favourite actress’ pregnancy at the mere sight of a baby bump, even if the bump is because of food. They wait for their favourite celebrity couple to do family planning soon.
The longer period the celebrity couple is married for, the more the rumours about their pregnancy start to surface online. While we speculate and pray that our favourite actresses announce their pregnancy soon, here is what they have to say about embracing motherhood.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s chup chup ke wala love was the talk of the town, ever since the two had started shoot for their film, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. While the two had kept their six years long relationship under the wraps, their fans had sensed their seriousness for each other and since then, they love them as ‘Deepveer.’ After all the speculations, the couple had gotten married on November 14 and 15, 2018 in Konkani and Sindhi style.
It was assumed that Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh will soon announce the news of starting their family, however, the two have been proving everyone wrong. In an interaction with express.co.uk, Deepika had opened up about her plans to embrace motherhood and had said:
"It will happen when it has to happen. Motherhood trumps being married. That’s what I hear from people who have had children. Of course, it will happen at some point but no, I think it is unfair to put women through that, to put a couple through that. I guess the day we stop asking the questions is when we will bring about change."
In another interview with Harper’s Bazaar US, Deepika had shared how she would want to raise her child with her husband, Ranveer Singh. She had said:
“My sister and I had two working parents who were still able to give every aspect of their lives, time, and dignity, whether it’s work or being home with us. I hope that when Ranveer and I start a family, we’re able to do it the way I experienced it as a child with my parents. Just rooted, wholesome and secure."
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' dating rumours had hit the headlines for quite some time and PeeCee had shut them by sharing roka pictures with her now-husband, Nick. It was in August 2018, when Priyanka Chopra had announced the news of her roka with Nick Jonas by sharing a picture from the same on her social media handle. She had turned into Priyanka Chopra Jonas on December 1-2, 2018 as she had gotten married to the love of her life, Nick Jonas at Umaid Bhawan Palace as per both Christian and Hindu rituals.
While talking to a magazine, Sunday Times, Priyanka Chopra had revealed that she wants to have many children with her husband, Nick Jonas. When she was asked how many children she would like to have, she had exclaimed, "A cricket team!"
Priyanka had further shared that she wants to have kids and had said, "I do want children, as many as I can have. A cricket team? I'm not so sure."
Priyanka has also talked about embracing motherhood in her memoir, Unfinished. She shared that she wants to create a family with Nick in future. In her words:
“The large extended family that Nick’s and my union has already created, and the more intimate one that we hope to create in the future. Where I can sit one day with our children, nieces and nephews and tell them about their amazing grandfather and how he helped make me who I am today.”
Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja are making their and everyone’s #EverydayPhenomenal, ever since the two had come out in open about their relationship. After various rounds of speculations regarding their wedding, Sonam and Anand had taken the saat pheras on May 8, 2018, making their relationship perfect by respecting each other’s profession, supporting and empowering each other.
Just like her wedding rumours, Sonam is often speculated to be pregnant, however, none of those reports has come true. During an interview with FirstPost just 2 months after her wedding, Sonam had talked at length about having kids. She had said:
"Anand and I had a very long conversation you know, and we obviously want to have kids eventually, and he had this one friend who had a very long name, his mother’s name, father’s name, blah blah blah. I said, see anyways it’s a patriarchal concept, I have my father’s last name, I don’t have my mother’s name, and I want to be part of your family as well, and he wanted to be a part of mine.”
Sonam had further talked about the name of kids and had said that though her name has become a long one and so has Anand’s, she thinks that it is an amazing thing. She had said:
"Now Sonam Kapoor Ahuja becomes very long, but in our passports, I’ll be Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and he will be Anand Sonam Ahuja. Which I think is amazing. Because I wanted to have the same name as my child and I wanted my child to have my name as well. For now, this was the best compromise we could come with, Anna, where our child has both our names which has nothing to do with my father, but I still have my father’s name because I love him and my progressive thoughts come from him, but I also wanted my husband’s name and he wanted my name."
Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu had met and fallen in love with each other on the sets of their film, Alone. Bipasha had further added that if the natural way of embracing parenthood doesn’t work, then the couple will happily adopt. She had said:
“And even if the child didn’t happen, it is okay. There are many children in our country, we can take care of them as well, we are fortunate. There are so many children in the country, who do not get facilities, it is also our responsibility to provide facilities to those children. Let’s see what happens in the future.”

"Well, I want to become a mother. In fact, Haarsh and I had planned to go family way in 2020. Socha toh tha ki 2020 mai 20-20 khel lu. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, I don’t wish to take any chance. I can’t plan a baby in such tension. I want my baby to come in a healthy environment. Right now, it is risky to even visit a hospital and once you get pregnant, you have to visit a doctor for regular check-ups. Might as well wait for another year than putting a small baby’s life at risk.”
It seems that Bharti will not have a baby in 2021 as well, due to the pandemic. In one of the episodes of Dance Deewane, a contestant had shown the real-life story of a young mother, who had lost her 14-day old baby to Coronavirus. “I’m fed up of these rumours. These days people look at my stomach when they talk to me. Inshallah, I will have a baby—but not so soon. I’m not mentally ready for motherhood yet. It’s a daunting task to be responsible for another human being.”
She had further talked about motherhood and how she feels it has nothing to do with age. She had said:
“Motherhood has nothing to do with age. This is a predicament most working women face today since they are getting married in their 30s. Many of my friends have told me that it’s fulfilling to wake up in the morning and look at your baby, clean him/her up--but it’s all so consuming. This would leave you with little energy for anything else. I don’t know how I’ll deal with that.”
Cupid had struck South sensations, Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya when they were working together for the film, Ye Maaya Chesave. But Chay (Naga Chaitanya) seems to be certain that it will happen on the assigned date! But we have definitely fixed the timeline as to when we want to have a baby."
Samantha had also talked about how she plans to give her child the most of the time after embracing motherhood. She had said:
"When I have a child, that child is going to be my universe. I had the greatest respect for working mothers. My childhood was not very rosy. For all adults, who haven't had a very rosy childhood, the first thing they will tell you is that they want to give their child everything that they did not have. That's something that has stuck with me. So I think the first few years after I have a child, I would not be anywhere. That child will be everything for me."
