'Celebrity Masterchef's' Dipika Kakar On Trolls, Stereotypes, And Life Choices', 'Aap Kuch Bhi...'

Dipika Kakar will be making her comeback to the television industry with the cooking show, Celebrity Masterchef after a four-year hiatus. And the actress plans to enjoy every bit of her journey on the show. She was last seen in the daily soap, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, where she essayed the role of 'Sonakshi Rastogi'.

Dipika Kakar on dealing with trolls

Dipika Kakar recently sat for a candid conversation with Times Entertainment and opened up about facing online trolling for her personal and professional life choices. She shared that no matter what she does, trolls always find something to criticize her for. Dipika added that despite the backlash, she plans to stay focused on her passions rather than allowing negativity to affect her.

She further added that the trolling was now different. Dipika revealed that she now realises that only a small section of people spread this negativity while the rest always wish her well. The actress also shared how it makes her feel bad as she, too, is a human. She stated:

"Their job is to nitpick and find flaws. Negative comments have been an on-going process. When I got married and then got pregnant, that time the comments were different. Now, they are different. I have realised there is only one section of the people, only one small section; the rest of everyone supports and showers a lot of love on me. But there is one section who can never be happy with your decision. Aap kuch bhi kar lo unko koi na koi nuskh nikalne he hote hain. I am a human, and I feel bad. Mujhe lagta hai main kisi kya bigaad rahi hoon?"

Dipika Kakar was at the peak of her television career when she decided to take a break and focus on her own family. She shared that she wanted to raise her son the way her mother raised her and be there for him. The actress called herself privileged that she got to choose that for herself and stated:

"I am just being me in my life, and this is the way I want to be. This is the way I've seen my mom raise me. She was always around me, available for me. I wanted to be that. I am very grateful that I have this privilege in my life that I can choose for myself. I can decide that I want to be at home with my son and take care of him. Now, when I got the right opportunity, I realised I should make my comeback."

Dipika Kakar doesn't appreciate when someone says, 'Kya hua khaana hi toh banati hai'

In the same conversation, Dipika Kakar also shared how she doesn't like society's lack of appreciation for the role of a housewife. She added that families don't appreciate that the women in the household wake up early to make sure that everyone's needs are taken care of, yet they never get the respect and gratitude that they deserve. She stated:

"The things I don't appreciate that in our society this one statement we always get to hear 'Kya hua Khaana he toh banati hai' iss cheez ko itne halke mein kyu liya jaata hai. In our families we have often heard that daughters, moms, daughter-in-laws, sisters, they are often told cooking is not a big deal. They take care of entire family's food habits."
