Celeste Rivas Case: Second Person Linked As New Details Reveal Teen's Body Was Frozen In D4vd's Car

The mystery surrounding the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rovas Hernandez continues to deepen as new details emerge more than two months after the teen’s dismembered body was found in R&B singer D4vd’s abandoned Tesla. And now, the case has taken another turn as new grisly details reveal that Hernandez’s remains were “partially frozen” when discovered. As the suspicion now turns to D4vd, the investigators have uncovered a second name linked to the case.

Grisly details emerge about Celeste Rivas’ discovery in D4vd’s Tesla

On September 8, 2025, just a day after her 15th birthday, Celeste’s decomposing and dismembered body was found in the front trunk of a Tesla. The car was reportedly standing abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for five days before it was discovered, until neighbours impounded it after reporting a foul stench emanating from it. The discovery had stunned even seasoned investigators.

And now, a new report from TMZ has revealed some more details about the morbid discovery. When officers opened the car’s front trunk, they were taken aback to find that Celeste’s partially dismembered remains, including her head and torso, were partially frozen and thawing inside. Hernandez was found wearing a tube top with black leggings, a yellow bracelet, and studded earrings.

A “Shh…” tattoo on her right index finger (which matches the one D4vd also has on the same finger) was the key to identifying her, as her features were too decomposed to be identified. The Tesla, which carried Texas plates, was registered to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, popularly known as D4vd, the rising R&B singer who made a sensation with songs like Romantic Homicide and Here With Me.

A second name has been linked to the Celeste Rivas case

Another burning update was made recently on the teen’s mysterious death, as reported by celebrity attorney Mark Geragos. Speaking on TMZ’s Angry Men podcast, Geragos revealed that detectives in the LAPD used phone and social media triangulation to find another unnamed suspect who was inside or near D4vd’s Tesla, around the same time investigators believe Celeste was killed, and even possibly helped the main suspect, D4vd, in dismembering the body, as it seems “highly unlikely” that this was a one-person job.

D4vd is officially a suspect in Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s case

Though unconfirmed, investigators and online sleuths have circulated photos and videos on social media, which appeared to show Celeste and D4vd together when she was still a missing minor. Besides the car, the “Shh…” tattoo on both their fingers and D4vd’s unreleased track fueled the speculation about the relationship. The track, titled “Celeste_Demo unfin”, leaked online in 2023, and it contains lyrics describing a girl named Celeste in unsettlingly intimate ways.

Adding to the D4vd connection, the Tesla had been towed from a Hollywood Hills street just minutes away from the singer’s rental home, where he reportedly had been living. Though they initially didn’t consider Burke a suspect, investigators later served a search warrant on the property. They seized multiple pieces of evidence, including some “farm tools” in the posh pad that, according to private investigator Steve Fisher, “could be used to get rid of a body.”

Evidence points to a multiple-person crime, and the cause of Celeste’s death may never be determined

The LAPD has been shaken as they try to uncover more clues connected to Celeste’s death, and with every new discovery, David is becoming an even bigger suspect. The investigation team is now examining an overnight trip the 20-year-old singer made to a remote Santa Barbara County earlier in 2025, where he reportedly spent “hours” off the grid. Authorities are now trying to determine whether that trip has any link to the disposal or dismemberment of the teen’s remains.

From what has been known so far about the cause of death, the LA County Medical Examiner has confirmed that the teen likely died weeks before her remains were discovered. But because her body parts had been partially frozen, officials say, determining the cause of death might be impossible.

Celeste Rivas had been missing for months before her body was discovered; she had a boyfriend named ‘David’

Though Celeste was found a day after her 15th birthday, she had been missing from her Lake Elsinore home since April 2024, when she was only 13. Her mother informed the officials that she had a boyfriend named ‘David’, and images later surfaced online which appeared to show Celeste and D4vd together. Several reports also suggest that D4vd was seen near her house before she went missing.

According to police reports and her former teacher, Celeste ran away from home several times throughout 2024 before disappearing for good. The Lake Elsinore teen was first reported missing in January 2024 and was later found in the Hollywood Hills. Friends and investigators said she frequently used fake IDs to move around on her own, making it harder for her family to track her. Her family reported her missing at least three times that year. New findings suggest the teen could have been living with D4vd in his Hollywood Hills rental home.

D4vd is not cooperating and has cancelled all tours

Though he initially cooperated with investigators, new reports say that David has changed as the probe tightens around him. The singer has canceled all U.S. and European tour dates, pulled his upcoming album, and is now reportedly refusing to cooperate with police. Authorities say they are treating Celeste’s death as a likely homicide, but no arrests have been made as they wait for the full autopsy and toxicology results.

Celeste was laid to rest in October at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights. Her story now rests at the center of one of Los Angeles’ most disturbing criminal investigations in years. Her remaining body parts are yet to be found.
