Bollywood actress, Celina Jaitly received a lot of flak after the reports about her sleeping with both Feroz Khan and Fardeen Khan many times surfaced online. It so happened that a few months back, a film critic and journalist, Umair Sandhu, shared derogatory statements about Celina on Twitter and left everyone shocked. The actress faced online bullying and abuse for the viral tweets, and later, she filed an official complaint against Umair with the National Commission of Women (NCW).
In an interview with India Today, Celina Jaitly opened up about her ordeal and expressed her gratefulness for the timely action taken on behalf of the Government of India. The actress was asked when did she decide to file an official complaint against the journalist, Umair Sandhu, for his derogatory remarks and she shared that it happened on April 12, 2023.

Further in the interview, Celina was asked if she personally knows Umair Sandhu or if she has interacted with him on any social media platform. To which, the actress responded that it was only on April 11, 2023, that her Twitter account blew up, and she saw the horrific and viral content about her that the journalist created for his personal gain. Talking about Umair Sandhu’s bizarre claims, Celina said:
"I had no idea who he was until April 11, 2023, when my Twitter account blew up. When I opened my account, I saw the horrific and viral content about me that he generated for his personal gain. I was tagged by hundreds of people, who brought my attention to Umair Sandhu’s bizarre claims. I was a victim of viral content generated for personal gains. He has made bizarre claims about my life in Austria, my life in Mumbai and whatever content he was creating was getting him followers overnight at my expense. I have been a victim of verbal violence, humiliation and most headlines, thanks to this person's content about me in a derogatory manner, no matter how supportive the media outlet is.
Celina Jaitly also shed light on the time when she decided to take up the matter with NCW and revealed that she along with some other people lodged a complaint with Twitter to ban Umair's account. However, Twitter found no issues with all his tweets, and he began to post multiple tweets about the actress which garnered a lot of views. She was heard saying:
"On the day this person created the fake viral content maligning me, thousands of people, including myself, lodged a complaint with Twitter to ban his account. Twitter's auto-generated responses claimed no issues with all his tweets, encouraging him to go on a horrifying spree of baseless, untrue, character assassination via his tweets. He made multiple tweets at my expense, garnering him massive views the whole day, and Twitter still did not do anything."

Calling Umair Sandhu a 'self-proclaimed film critic', revealed that the former is based in Pakistan but changes his location to almost every part of the world every few days. She added that he tries to find a job as a hate and gossip monger in small media outlets in India and calls himself a 'South Asian film critic'. Hinting at the probability of Umair being an ISI agent, the actress said:
"He calls himself a 'South Asian film critic' only to find odd jobs as a hate and gossip monger in small media outlets in India. The height of stupidity is that some of the most reputable and credible media outlets report on the lies spread by a Pakistani imposter, only because he uses fancy tags like 'South Asian film critic' while posting batches of old holiday photos to convince people of his residence elsewhere. He might as well be an ISI agent who is trying to infiltrate Indian media outlets. Because the journalist was hiding in Pakistan, legal recourse was not possible for me, and he continued to assault me with verbal violence."
Celina Jaitly threw light on the entire process of lodging a complaint, reaching out to the MEA, and finally, approaching the Pakistan High Commission. Talking about the same, she shared that she is hopeful about getting justice one day or the other, as the process would take its due time. She added:
"After much deliberation, I took the matter to the National Commission of Women in India. I wrote to Ms Khushbu Sundar and filed an official complaint following that. The National Commission of Women, in turn, initiated action upon the complaint and took the matter to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). MEA in turn has responded with full support by taking up the matter with the Pakistani High Commission to take stringent action at the earliest. I do not know what the laws in Pakistan are, but I am sure the laws for the protection of women against cyberbullying, verbal and mental abuse, and character assassination are stringent."
