Celina Jaitly On Struggles Of Her Career, Reveals She Was 'Unpaid' And 'Faced Constant Criticism'

Celina Jaitly is one of the most beautiful actresses in Bollywood. Although a lot of people are familiar with her journey in the film industry, very few people know that the actress started her career with a marketing job in a telephonic company in Kolkata. However, after that, Celina decided to take part in a local beauty contest, and she eventually bagged the crown of Femina Miss India in 2001. For the uninformed, the actress also participated in Miss Universe in 2001 and ended up as the fourth runner-up. On July 17, 2023, the actress marked a long 22 years of becoming the fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe. And on this very special day, Celina penned a long note about her career and shared a few anecdotes about the same.

Celina Jaitly reveals the struggles of the early days of her career

Taking to her IG handle, Celina Jaitly dropped an old video and a portrait of her from the Miss Universe pageant. In the video, we can see the actress flaunting her curves in a saffron-hued sultry bikini. Celina looked breathtakingly gorgeous as she walked on the ramp with fiery confidence in her eyes. The actress can be seen placing a bindi on her forehead, which shows her Indianness. In the photo that Celina shared, we can see her posing with some other contestants.

Sharing the photo, Celina Jaitly penned a lengthy caption, wherein she talked about the early days of her career. The actress shared that she entered the fashion industry when she was 15 years old, and it was not so easy for her in a 'not so open-minded Kolkata'. She went on to write how the pressure of studies and preparation for competitive exams made her entire teenage a journey of hard work and toil. On the same long note, Celina Jaitly added how she had to be hospitalised almost every month for dysmenorrhea and blood loss during her Menstruation. She mentioned that it was an incredibly intense life for a child like her who had many dreams and aspirations.

Further in the note, Celina Jaitly mentioned how she used to take up work on weekends for money. She revealed that after working so hard, there were times when the actress was not even paid her money and faced the issues of unauthorised use of images due to a lack of industry regulations. Celina added there was constant criticism and rejection that she faced and she had to hear some derogatory words, including people's comments on her complexion, height, weight, and more.

On the same note, Celina Jaitly then gave her very own definition of crown and beauty. She shared that now crowns are not only made of sparkly stones but of sheer determination, strength, dedication, devotion, struggle, and immense courage too. She also expressed gratitude for representing India on various platforms as an actor, brand ambassador, UN equality champion, and activist.
