Why Did The Makers Of 'Gen V' Killed Chance Perdomo's Character, 'Andre Anderson' In The Show?

Gen V's second season was released on September 17, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video and the premiere of the show grabbed attention towards one character, which was of Chance Perdomo, who played the role of 'Andre Anderson'. From the first episode of season two, makers showed that 'Andre' is dead, which forced the fans to think of the reason why the makers didn't replace him. Read on to know everything about Chance’s disappearance from the show. 

Gev V makers issued a statement after Chance Perdomo’s death

Chance Perdomo tragically died in 2024, and after that Amazon Prime Video and the makers of the show, Gen V took to their X (formerly Twitter) handle to issue a statement regarding the same. They shared a note, in which they mourned the sudden death of Chance and declared that they will not be replacing him with anyone else as according to the makers, no one else could portray ‘Andre’ better than Chance. They also shared that they will pay honour to the actor in season two of Gen V. Their note can be read as:

"As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won't be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honour Chance and his legacy this season."

How did ‘Andre Anderson’ die in Gen V Season 2?

In the second season of the popular show, Gen V, 'Andre's' death is shown during an escape attempt from 'Elmira'. It is shown that 'Andre' wanted his friends, 'Marie', 'Jordan', and 'Emma' to get out of the rehab, so he used his magnetic powers to open a heavy steel door. Even though, his friends begged him to stop, he was adamant and pushed himself too hard. While trying to open the door, he collapsed and died. 

Later, it was explained that 'Andre' died because of brain damage. In Season 1, the makers had shown that 'Andre's' father, 'Polarity' also had suffered neural tears, when he tried to use his powers and 'Andre's' final effort affected his brain too much, resulting in his death. His death was shown as both tragic and as a brave sacrifice, which left fans emotional. 

Chance Perdomo’s tragic death

Chance Perdomo was born on October 20, 1996, in Los Angeles. Chance rose to fame with his role 'Ambrose Spellman' on the show, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and later, he gained wider recognition with Gen V. Apart from shows, he had also appeared in films, which brought him appreciation from fans and fellow actors. 

On March 30, 2024, Chance tragically died after a motorcycle crash at the age of 27. Several publications and colleagues expressed deep shock at his death. The cast of Gen V also expressed grief. Soon after his death, Chance's family announced the Chance Perdomo Foundation to keep his memory and cause he cared alive.
