Divya Dutta, the phenomenal actress, is hogging the limelight for her newly released series, Chiraiya. For the unversed, the series which revolves around the turbulent marital life of a new bride, was released on March 20, 2026, on Jio Hotstar. Divya plays the role of badi bahu, 'Kamlesh', in the series, Chiraiya. Divya has never shied away from speaking her mind and often admits that she chooses every project very meticulously. In a recent interview, Divya recounted a harrowing rape scene experience.
In a recent interview with Cinema Express, Divya Dutta recounted a harrowing rape scene experience where she shared screen space with actor, Sanjay Kapoor. Divya mentioned that although she was friends with actor, Sanjay and the scene went smoothly, it left a lasting impression on her. The Chiraiya actress stated that three days after filming the particular scene, she began feeling very low. She went to the washroom and started crying loudly. She wondered what exactly had happened to her, and that’s when she realised how she got engaged with the character. Recalling the scene, Divya said:
"I remember when I did the short, and there was this harrowing scene where Sanjay Kapoor’s character rapes me. I mean, I was friends with Sanjay, and it all went smoothly. I came home, but after three days I started feeling very low. I went to the washroom and started crying, in fact, howling. And I wondered what just happened to me. I realised that subconsciously I had brought the character home. I had lived her for only two days, it was a short film, and it impacted me like this."

In the same interview, Divya Dutta opened up about her character, 'Kamlesh', in the series, Chiraiya. She shared that 'Kamlesh' represented an Indian woman who has the power in the house. However, 'Kamlesh' starts feeling insecure when a new bahu comes into the household. Divya was quoted as saying:
"I think Kamlesh represents an Indian woman we all find in ourselves. When I heard the character, I was totally sold because there are little parts of her in each one of us. There is a child in every one of us that needs to be protected and loved and nurtured, and she is also the woman who has the power in the house and who feels insecure when a new ‘bahu’ comes in. She is the one who is dancing around in the house, and suddenly something happens, and she has to fight for what is right and all of her established life is now at stake."

Divya Dutta is still unmarried. Earlier, this year, in 2026, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Divya explained why she is still single at the age of 48. She highlighted that she learned some huge lessons from her past relationships. The Chiraiya star mentioned that she tried to find love many times, but she felt that marriages and partnerships require equal efforts. She added that being an actress, her life is unpredictable, and thus, she requires a mature person who would understand her profession and hold her hand through thick and thin. She was quoted as saying:
"Ye bahot galatiya karke seekha hai. I sought it quite a few times, but when you talk about marriage or partnership, it is something that needs a lot of mutual nurturing to be with the right person. Aap actor hai, unpredictable job hai, upar se high-profile hai. Dimaag bhi rakhte hai toh easy combo toh hain nahi."
