Chris Martin Chants 'Jai Shree Ram' During Coldplay Mumbai Concert, Gives Jasprit Bumrah A Shout-Out

Coldplay is a British rock band formed in 1997. The band features vocalist and pianist, Chris Martin; guitarist, Jonny Buckland; bassist, Guy Berryman; and drummer and percussionist, Will Champion. Known for their live performances, this marks their fourth visit to India and second performance in the country.

Coldplay kickstarted its long-awaited India leg of their Music of the Spheres World Tour with a concert on January 18, 2025, at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai. Since the concert, several clips and pictures from the same have surfaced online, and the netizens can't have enough of them. The concert-goers made different placards for the concert. Chris Martin was reading those placards when he came across one that read Jai Shree Ram. The singer read the same and questioned his audience what it meant. Hearing the crowd roar, he stated that it must be something good.

Chris Martin gives Indian bowler, Jasprit Bumrah a shout-out

During the concert, the band performed their iconic songs Fix You and A Sky Full of Stars, among others. However, another highlight of the concert was when Chris unexpectedly gave the Indian cricket team bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, a shout-out mid-concert. After their performance, Chris was also heard thanking his fans by saying, Shukriya. Chris was quoted giving Jasprit a shout-out as saying:

"Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage. He says he needs to bowl at me now."

Coldplay's frontman, Chris Martin, surprises fans by speaking in Hindi

While the concert being a 'banger-and-a-half' was no news for the fans. Chris Martin's attempt at speaking Hindi surprised the concert-goers. According to a video surfacing online, the band's frontman welcomed the audience in Hindi, which made his fans go wild. In the video, Chris can quoted saying:

"Good evening everybody. Aap sabka bahaut swagat hai. Mumbai mein aakar humein bohot Khushi ho rahi hai. We are so happy to be here."

Chris Martin expressed his gratitude to the audience and apologised for his Hindi

In another video, Chris Martin's Hindi was on point, the singer still apologised for any mess-ups. He addressed the audience and thanked them for coming to their concert. The humility in his tone and gestures won the hearts of his fans. Chris was quoted as saying:

"Thank you for letting me speak English. I'm sorry, my Hindi and Marathi are very bad, but I tried my best. I'll speak English now, so thank you. Thank you for welcoming us to beautiful India. Thank you for giving us the chance to play for one of our favourite cultures in the world. It's our fourth visit to India. Second time to play and the first time we have played our own show."
