Couple Cancels Foreign Trip, Donates Over Rs. 1 Lakh To The Family Of Murali Naik, Martyred In LoC

In an act of immense compassion and patriotism, a Mumbai-based couple made a selfless gesture that’s striking a chord with the nation. The duo, who had long been saving up for a much-awaited foreign vacation, cancelled their trip and instead donated the saved amount to the bereaved family of war martyr, Murali Naik, who lost his life to Pakistani shelling, while serving on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

A couple’s selfless tribute to the fallen soldier

A Mumbai-based couple, who have remained anonymous, reportedly came forward in support of the grieving family of the recently martyred soldier in his early 20s, Murali Naik from Kamraj Nagar. As reported by the Instagram page, We Are Yuvaa, the couple had been saving up for their dream trip abroad for quite some time. So far, they could collect Rs. 1,09,001 for the trip. However, in light of the tumultuous times during the last few days, amid the Indo-Pak conflict, it just didn’t feel right to roam around overseas while the country goes through this difficult situation. Instead, they decided to donate the money saved for their dream vacation to the grieving parents of Murali, as a gratitude to the sacrifices and risks of the armed forces guarding the nation.

Kamraj Nagar mourns the loss of its son, Murali Naik

On the fateful morning of May 9, 2025, India received the tragic news of Murali Naik’s death. The soldier was serving in the LoC region of Jammu and Kashmir when he lost his life amid heavy shelling from Pakistan. Murali’s father, Sriram Naik, expressed his grief at losing his only child in a statement. He said:

“My son died for the country. He fought for the country. What makes us sad is that I have only one son. We depended on him, and our support is gone. Now we have become orphans, my wife and I. Whatever the solution, I leave it to the country. Whatever decision it will take is up to the country."

Murali

Murali Naik was a native of Andhra Pradesh, but he was raised in Mumbai. The young jawan hailed from a small family of labourers and was their only child. He was well known and loved in the locality for his unwavering ambition to serve the nation. Having lost their home to a slum redevelopment project, Murali’s parents, father Sriram Naik and mother Jyoti Naik, had recently relocated to Andhra Pradesh. But their bond with Kamraj Nagar remains unbroken, and the community came together in collective grief to honour the young soldier.

Murali Naik lost his life within three days of transfer

Murali had always aspired to wear the Indian uniform. Though he failed twice, his persistence paid off when he was selected under the Agniveer scheme in 2022. After completing his training in Nashik, he was first posted in Assam, then Punjab, and finally at the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir. He was transferred to J&K just three days before he was martyred during Operation Sindoor, a mission launched in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. Murali was part of the 851 Light Regiment under the Northern Command.
