She fought bravely against stage IV colon cancer for seven years, which was documented on her social media accounts and in Netflix's Country Ever After. Many found strength, solace, and motivation from her positive mindset in Criscilla's battle with the fatal disease. She was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018. Her initial prognosis gave her a life expectancy of two years, but she outlived this projection significantly, with her mental strength and will to survive.

In 2020, the reality show, Country Ever After premiered, chronicling Criscilla Anderson's family life and her journey through stage 3 cancer treatment. A year after the show's airing, she was declared cancer-free in the summer of 2021. However, sadly, the cancer returned in 2022 and began growing in her lymph nodes. Criscilla spoke with PEOPLE magazine at the time about the high chances of the cancer returning, stating it had to be treated like a chronic disease. After a brave fight with the ailment, Criscilla died on December 2, 2025, "peacefully and surrounded by love."

"My sweet community, If you're reading this, I've finally slipped into the arms of Jesus — peacefully and surrounded by love. Please don't stay in the darkness of this moment. I fought hard and I loved deeply. I am not gone… I'm Home."

Criscilla continued her long message with how much her children meant to her. She referred to her son, two daughters, and a step-daughter as her "whole heart" and assured them she would continue to watch over them from above. Criscilla also expressed her gratitude to her "circle of women" for their support during her illness. Criscilla called them "God's hands in my life." The dancer then thanked her family for their love towards her and asked them to care for each other and her children. The poignant text concluded with "I love you all. Always. — Criscilla."
