Daboo Malik Reveals Why Amaal Mallik Joined 'Bigg Boss 19', 'The Show Will Give Him Identity...'

Popular reality show, Bigg Boss 19 started on August 24, 2025, and in 4 days, the show has managed to grab a lot of attention with some fun moments and some serious fights. One contestant who is going quite viral on social media is musician, Amaal Mallik. Amid his popularity, his father, Daboo Malik has opened up about him and mentioned that Bigg Boss is not just a show for Amaal. 

Amaal Mallik wants his own identity from Bigg Boss 19

In a recent conversation with NDTV, Daboo Malik shared the reason on why Amaal was so keen to participate in the show, Bigg Boss 19. He mentioned that Amaal is looking for identity from this show. He continued to share that earlier Anu Mallik was the face of the family, as Daboo himself led his life, battled depression, criticism and more. Eventually he didn’t focus much on fame and moved on. 

He continued to add that after Anu Mallik, Armaan Mallik is the new face of the family. He explained that even though Amaal created an ecosystem of music, he was unable to be the face of the family as the singer gets more fame than the composer. He shared:

"But each to his own. The face of the family became Armaan. Being the elder person who created this entire ecosystem of the Malik family, Amaal, with his great music and hard work, was not becoming the face. From the same family, suddenly one becomes a star like Armaan. And it always happens because a singer becomes more popular than a composer."

Daboo, then went on to explain that this became the main reason for Amaal to enter the Bigg Boss house. He explained that the lack of recognition hit Amaal very badly and he wanted to be a star. Daboo mentioned that he hopes that Bigg Boss helps bring Amaal to the spotlight. In his words:

"I think the feeling of not having an identity was a setback. In his heart, Amaal wants to be a star. And I hope this journey on a national platform will fulfil his dreams. Bigg Boss will give him that popularity, the face value, the identity that here he is - the man who created the music."

Daboo Malik talks about Amaal Mallik’s decision to cut ties with family

Daboo Malik also opened up about Amaal’s social media post on cutting ties with family and he said that it was not a sudden decision, he had a lot of piled up and it was just an outburst. He shared that even though Amaal deleted that post, it showed the mental toll that he was going through. During that time, Amaal's younger brother, Armaan immediately stepped in to support the family and asked them to give the composer some space. Daboo explained that the particular incident acted like a reminder that sometimes parents need to adapt to emotional needs. 

Amaal Mallik’s Bigg Boss 19 journey till now

It's been less than a week that Bigg Boss 19 premiered, and in so less time Amaal Mallik has managed to become the most-talked about contestant. He is gaining popularity for his fun nature, candid conversations, emotional revelations and more. Recently, he grabbed attention when he spoke to the Bigg Boss camera and sent a special message to his girlfriend.
