Renowned singer-composer Amaal Mallik recently bared his heart out as he revisited one of the most heartbreaking chapters of his life - a relationship that ended due to religious differences and societal pressure. In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal Mallik opened up about his painful past, talking about a relationship that left him scarred. Amaal Mallik shared that his former girlfriend had to marry someone else because he didn’t want to marry her without her family’s approval. He recalled receiving a call from her, revealing she was getting married but was willing to elope if he came to her. In a dramatic yet firm decision, Amaal refused, as her parents never accepted his religion or respected his career in the industry. The musician recalled:

"We were in a relationship from 2014 to 2019. But her parents were against my religion and career. They didn’t want to associate their daughter with anyone from this industry. I was about to perform a gig when she called me and said she is getting married, but she would elope if I came to her. But, I guess the SRK from DDLJ in me woke up and said, ‘No, if your parents can’t accept my religion and respect my career, then I wish you the best.'"
