Meet Dallas Cowboys Owner, Jerry's Wife, College Lovers, Former Miss Arkanas, Married For 60 Years

Jerry Jones and his wife, Eugenia 'Gene' Jones, have been together for more than six decades. The Dallas Cowboys' owner was featured in the Netflix docuseries American Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, which premiered on August 19, 2025. In the series, Jerry revealed that he met his lady love, Eugenia, in college, and the rest has been history for them. From raising three children to becoming the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Eugenia has been his constant through life.

Even after over six decades, Eugenia is Jerry Jones' rock and a steadfast partner who brings joy to his personal life and confidence in his professional decisions. In an interview, back in 2017 with WFAA-TV, Eugenia reflected on their marriage and shared how she wouldn't change a thing about their relationship. The same year, she also presented him during his induction into the NFL Hall of Fame, and Jerry lovingly referred to her as his closest advisor and best friend. Eugenia Jones hails from Arkansas

Eugenia Jones is the daughter of a small-town banker and grew up in Danville, Arkansas. As a young woman, she participated in pageants and was crowned Miss Arkansas USA in 1960, as well as Arkansas Poultry Princess. However, despite her family's ties to the Dallas Cowboys, she still remains deeply connected with her roots in Arkansas.

So much so that she and Jerry's children even attended the University of Arkansas. Eugenia and Jerry Jones' son, Stephen, turned down a football scholarship to Princeton just so he could follow in his parents' footsteps as a Razorback.

Eugenia and Jerry Jones' first meeting and marriage

Eugenia Jones met the love of her life while attending the University of Arkansas. In a world where love is so hard to come by, she crossed paths with Jerry Jones on their very first day. The Dallas Cowboys' owner took her on the first date to a fair, where he failed to win her a teddy, but won her heart instead when, unwilling to give up, he bought a teddy for his beloved from the operator's booth. Three years later, they got married while still in college. Gene recalled their first date in an interview and stated:

"He came right back with the biggest teddy bear at the carnival and wearing a bigger smile on his face."

Who is a better person than the one who stuck by you through every high and low to present you into the Hall of Fame? No one, and Jerry Jones, understood that very well. As he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017, he chose his partner, Eugenia, to present him with the honour. Jerry, during his speech, said:

"Any recognition that I may have received...has been the result of a group effort involving all of my family. Gene is the backbone of our family."

It was 1989 when Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys from H.R. 'Bum' Bright for a whopping USD 140 million. It was a massive investment at the time and a record for an NFL franchise. The move was extremely risky and could break or make Jerry and his family's future. However, despite the risks, Eugenia Jones' faith in her husband never wavered, and she stood by him as his rock. Reflecting on the decision, Gene stated:

"I knew it had been a dream of his. It's kind of like winning that teddy bear. He wants something, and he doesn’t take no for an answer."

Eugenia and Jerry Jones welcomed three children and ten grandchildren together

While Jerry Jones built a name in the material world, Eugenia built a family and a home that meant more to the Dallas Cowboys' owner than anything else. The couple welcomed three beautiful children together; their eldest, Stephen, was born in 1964, followed by their daughter, Charlotte, in 1966 and Jerry Jr. in 1969.

The Dallas Cowboys soon became their family legacy with Stephen serving as the chief operating officer, Charlotte as chief brand officer, and Jerry Jr. as chief sales and marketing officer. The Jones family has only grown larger since then, expanding from a family of five to a family of 20, with Charlotte having three children, Haley, Shy Jr., and Paxton, with her ex-husband, Shy Anderson.

Stephen and his wife welcomed four beautiful children: Caroline, Jordan, Jessica, and John Stephen Jr. Their youngest, Jerry Jr., also has two children, Mary and James, with his wife, Lori Lemon, and a daughter, Juliette, with actress Janine Turner. The family welcomed its newest member, Parker Elouise Eugenia, born to Shy Jr. and is named in honour of her great-grandmother.

Eugenia Jones has always prioritised her family, a value she and Jerry have also passed down to their children. The doting wife has mentioned on several occasions how much family means to her and Jerry, and how he is always there for them. From their lives as young adults in college to building one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world and a family that's filled with love and warmth, Eugenia and Jerry are truly the couple that most people aspire to be.
