The famous Grammy Award-winning artist, D'Angelo, passed away at the age of 51. His death left the entire industry in shock. The family confirmed his death on October 14, 2025. His real name was Michael D’Angelo Archer. He is survived by three children. His family shared an official statement on his demise and revealed how his passing has left a big void.

On October 14, 2025, D'Angelo left for the heavenly abode at the age of 51. The singer's family confirmed his passing in a statement to Variety. They revealed that he had been battling cancer for a long time. They added that his legacy will remain, as he gave glorious years to music. The family's statement can be read as:

"The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life…After a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to announce that Michael D’Angelo Archer, known to his fans around the world as D’Angelo, has been called home, departing this life today, October 14th, 2025. We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind.  We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world."

D'Angelo was once madly in love with 11-year-older Angie Stone in the '90s

Talking about D'Angelo's personal life, he was once head-over-heels-in-love with actress-singer, Angie Stone. She died in March 2025 in a car crash near Montgomery. After eight months, D'Angelo passed away. The two met in the '90s when D'Angelo was just 19 years old, while Angie Stone was 30 years old. In an old interview with Essence, Angie revealed that when she met D'Angelo, he was just a kid. She said:

"When I was dating him he wore glasses, had short hair and his pants were hanging down to his b***. He was just a 19-year-old kid with big shorts and nobody cared and no one saw his beauty but me."

People often accused Angie of being a predator, but their love was timeless and ageless. The couple welcomed a son out of wedlock. Their relationship lasted for four years, and they even collaborated on their debut albums. After the birth of their son, they continued to co-parent him. Once Angie said:

"D’angelo and I are parents first. For the sake of my son, I would never disrespect his father. I am an understanding sister and it’s a love-hate relationship and I hope people don’t misunderstand my statement."

Talking about D'Angelo, he welcomed a son, Michael Archer, with his ex-girlfriend, Angie Stone, in 1998. They continued to co-parent him. However, D'Angelo never got married, but he has two other children. His daughter, Imani Archer, was born in 1999, and she followed in his footsteps. Later, in 2010, he welcomed another son, named Morocco Archer. However, the mothers of his two other kids are not publicly known.
