Danielle Fishel recently opened up about her Dancing with the Stars routine. The actress known for her role as 'Topanga Lawrence' in Boy Meets World and the spin-off, Girls Meets World recently opened up about her struggle and how her last performance on DWTS triggered some old issues. Danielle got candid about how the dance routine brought back some negative feelings and how she managed them.
In the latest episode of Danielle With... pocast, the actress got candid about her performance on Dancing with the Stars. For the unversed, the episode was released on November 3, 2025, a day before Danielle presented her last performance with pro dance partner, Pasha Pashkov. The actress was interviewing former DWTS pro, Louis van Amstel, when during the conversation she revealed that she and Pasha will be performing a contemporary dance to Aerosmith's Dream On for rock night.

During the conversation Danielle reflected on how the performance triggered some old struggles for her. She shared more behind the message they want to send with their dance. She stated:
"We are telling the story about how difficult it can be to be a woman in society where we are somehow always too much and also never enough. No matter what choice you make, whether you work inside the home or outside the home. If you choose to work outside then you’re selfish and your children need you and where is their mother, and if you work inside the home, then you are boring and don’t have interests."

In the same conversation, Danielle further shared how 'there's no winning' for women in these situations and noted that since she had been in the public eye since she was 10 years old she has been "under a microscope, and my choices have been scrutinized." The actress revealed that she has made several mistakes and is "resistant to it because it's triggering so many things in me", including her eating disorder. Danielle got emotional as she reflected on the years of 'negative self-talk' and stated:
"Instead of me leaning into it and embracing that in the dance, it’s making me not want to do it. But I think the fact that I realized it, made me wake up and think, one, so happy to be talking to you and for you to give me the advice you gave me because it really lands and resonates, but also, it’s very clear that this is striking an emotional cord for me and there’s a reason for that and this dance actually means something."

This isn't the first time that the actress has opened up about her eating disorder. Danielle previously spoke about her struggles on the Pod Meets World podcast in 2024. During the show she gave fans a "real peek into the mind of teenage Danielle in the nineties," when she dealt with those issues the most.

Danielle recalled how there was no such thing as body positivity at the time and everyone was chasing a 'waif look'. She shared how if someone had curves or any sort of extra weight, it was really something they were supposed to feel bad about. She added:
"I have always been the type [where] I gain weight relatively quickly and but I gain it evenly....I would see comments people had made about me when I was on Boy Meets World when I did have more weight on me than I did in the first couple of seasons, and I found that there were plenty of people who were like, ‘I think Topanga looked better with more weight on her.' And I was like, ‘No! That’s that’s the first time I’m hearing of that.'"
