Taare Zameen Par was released on December 21, 2007, and even after 16 years of its release, it is still very much alive in the hearts of Indian audiences. From people lauding Taare Zameen Par as a film during discussions on YouTube podcasts centered around Bollywood industry to many of its iconic scenes turning into memes on social media, it's fair to say that Taare Zameen Par is truly one of a kind. For the unversed, Taare Zameen Par's story was written by Amole Gupte, who also directed the movie with Aamir Khan.
Talking about the film's cast, Darsheel Safary played the character of a kid named 'Ishaan Awasthi', Tisca Chopra and Vipin Sharma played his onscreen parents, and Aamir Khan portrayed the role of an art teacher, 'Ram Shankar Nikumbh'. Apart from the film's heart-melting and thought-provoking story, some of Taare Zameen Par's songs like Bum Bum Bole, Kholo Kholo, Maa, Jame Raho, and the film's title track are still listened to by people.

After the gigantic success of Taare Zameen Par, it's quite surprising how the film's lead actor, Darsheel Safary couldn't succeed in Bollywood. It's incredible the way Darsheel got into the skin of his character at the age of 10, which resulted in him winning the 2008 Filmfare Critic's Award for Best Actor. Despite a dream debut in Bollywood, Darsheel couldn't go on to build on his success. However, he appeared in a series of films like Bumm Bumm Bole, Zokkomon, Midnight's Children, Kutch Express, and Hukus Bukus but failed to make a mark with his acting performances.
Once, in a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Darsheel Safary talked about not getting interesting scripts after Taare Zameen Par and why he never approached his Taare Zameen Par co-star, Aamir Khan, for some work. The young actor admitted that he is an extremely shy person, and although many people told him to connect with Aamir for better work opportunities, but he couldn't do it because he always wanted things to happen organically to him. Talking about the same, Darsheel said:
"Not at all! I am very shy. I get awkward with these things. I can't tell you how many times I have been told, 'Are you in touch with Aamir uncle? Drop him a text, call him, this and that.' But I feel shy doing this. I don't know how to put it in words. It should always happen organically."

Further, in the same interview, Darsheel Safary shared that he thinks that work should be the only thing that leads to work opportunities. He added how he never expected anyone to back him. However, Darsheel admitted that Aamir Khan was always aware of the films he was doing, and the Dangal actor always wished him luck. The youngster only wanted Aamir Khan's blessings and nothing more than that. He said:
"Work leading to more opportunities is the ideal way forward. This concept of, 'tumpe kisi ka haath hai. I have never understood that and I have never expected that as well. In fact, after Taare Zameen Par, almost every project that I have done, somewhere or the other, it has been communicated to Aamir that this is the project that I am doing. It's mostly the case, just to get his blessings."

On March 4, 2024, Darsheel Safary shared a picture collage featuring Aamir Khan on his Instagram handle. While on the top half, we can see the duo's still from Taare Zameen Par, the bottom half features a picture from their upcoming collaboration. The picture broke the internet in no time as people got excited to see Aamir in a distinguished and full white beard and hair. However, Darsheel revealed nothing about his upcoming project with Aamir but hinted at an adventure.
A day later, on March 5, 2024, Darsheel Safary once again took to his Instagram handle and posted three pictures featuring Aamir Khan in three completely different characters. Calling it Aamir's multiverse, Darsheel lauded the former with compliments like 'a versatile actor' and 'Mr Perfectionist'. According to a report in ABP Live, the pictures are from Aamir and Darsheel's alleged upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, which is reportedly a sequel to their 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par. However, as of now, there's no concrete proof of the same, and everything is at a standstill. However, everyone is keeping their fingers crossed and praying it will turn out to be a movie and not an ad film.
