Dave Coulier is an American actor and comedian. He is widely known for his roles in TV series, Full House, The Real Ghostbusters and Muppet Babies. However, in November 2024, the actor left his fans concerned as he announced that he had been battling cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma. For the unversed, Dave revealed his health struggles, particularly about the cancer battle, for the first time on the podcast, Full House Rewind.
There was a time in Dave’s life when he had doubts regarding his survival. Each day felt like a last one to him. However, it was his beloved wife, Melissa, who became his pillar of strength. Earlier in an interview, Dave revealed that his family, including his mom, sister and niece, suffered cancer. Now that the actor has revealed his new cancer diagnosis, let’s look at his previous journey battling cancer.

In a 2024 interview with People, Dave revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He shared that he was diagnosed with cancer after an upper respiratory infection caused major swelling in his lymph nodes. After the swelling started increasing rapidly and one area of his lymph nodes grew to the size of a golf ball, his doctors advised him to undergo PET and CT scans as well as a biopsy. After three days, doctors called him to inform him that he had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was quoted as saying:
"Three days later, my doctors called me back, and they said, 'We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and it's called B cell, and it's very aggressive.'"

In the same interview, Dave Coulier shared that during his cancer battle, he tried his best to stay positive for his family, including his wife and son. He then mentioned that his mom and sister, Sharon, had breast cancer and passed away due to the health issue. His niece was just 29 years old, when she lost her life due to the same health scare. Later, he expressed that he wanted to be strong like the women in his family and fight cancer. He was quoted as saying:
"I looked at how those words affected [Melissa], and I thought, you know what, I'm going to be strong throughout this, not just for me, but I'm going to be strong for her. I lost my mom to breast cancer. I lost my sister Sharon to breast cancer. She was 36 years old. I lost my niece, Shannon. She was 29 years old. I saw what those women in my family went through, and I thought to myself, ‘If I can be just 1/10th of a per cent as strong as they were, then I'm going to be just fine."

After two weeks of his cancer diagnosis, Dave immediately started chemotherapy. However, his positive approach to fighting the cancer battle soon went downhill after the fifth round of chemotherapy. During a past interview with Parade, Dave and his wife, Melissa, had the most difficult 'what-ifs' conversation. The American actor shared that he also thought of death during that time. Melissa was quoted as saying:

"After [the fifth round of] chemo, he was like, ‘I don’t know if I could do this again. He was like, ‘I’m prepared either way. If I die, I die. And if I can stay here, great. I want to.’ Those conversations were obviously so tough."
During the tough phase, Melissa became Dave’s pillar of strength. After they learnt about the actor’s cancer diagnosis, Melissa, along with his close friends, researched anything and everything related to the health issue. Their joint initiative also raised Dave’s chances of curing from very low to 90 per cent.

We wish Dave Coulier's speedy recovery as he was diagnosed with a new form of cancer again.
