Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are one of the much-loved couples in the Hindi film industry. The couple got married on November 14, 2018, and today, the duo completed 6 years of their marital bliss. Deepika and Ranveer's 6th wedding anniversary is extra-special this year, as their world got more magical with the arrival of their little one, Dua.
Deepika and Ranveer's love story is straight out of a fairytale novel. The duo first met back in 2012, at an award show, and in 2013, they started dating while shooting for their film, Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela. Well, on the 6th wedding anniversary of Deepika and Ranveer, let us look back in time when the actress shared the reason they never moved in together before their wedding.
In an interview with Filmfare just after their grand shaadi, Deepika was asked about what changed after her and Ranveer's wedding. To this, Deepika shared that she has become more grounded, and she feels secure and protected. The actress mentioned that being in a relationship there are a lot of nerves, and it doesn't hold that much weightage as marriage does. The actress further added that now when she and Ranveer look at each other, there's a sense of responsibility.
In the same interview, Deepika Padukone shared that when on her wedding day, Ranveer held her hand, it was different in a good way as it felt like more responsibility, which cannot be explained. The actress shared that in a marriage, one shouldn't lose their responsibility, but also feels right to feel that someone is there with her at home. Sharing that she now thinks everything to be 'us', Deepika said:
"The way Ranveer held my hand on the day we got married, November 14 was different from the way he used to hold it earlier. Or maybe it was just a switch in my head. There’s a sense of responsibility, which I can’t explain. Now everything we do is ‘us’. Not to say that in marriage you should forget your individuality and independence."
Going further, Deepika Padukone stated that she and Ranveer Singh didn't want to live together when they were dating, like vacations or staying over were normal, but they didn't move in together, as they wanted to do it only after marriage. The actress mentioned that she and Ranveer wanted to see if they would want to get married despite not living together, and they wanted to explore life together by living with each other only after hopping on to the forever journey. Deepika Padukone explained:
"When you’re in a relationship it’s different. We didn’t want to live together and then see if we wanted to marry each other or not. We’re both traditional in that sense. Of course, as boyfriend and girlfriend you stay over, you go for holidays together but we used to come back and go to our own homes. We were clear that we’d start living together after marriage and figure life as we go along. Or else where’s the beauty in the discovery? So now we’re figuring things out. Like I’m figuring out his routine. I call him in the evening to check how his day is going and what time he’s coming home, what he will have for dinner… (Smiles) All of this is great."
Deepika, in the same interview, said that she wanted to get married when she was only five years old, but she decided upon marrying Ranveer after her movie, Padmaavat. The actress further took credit for organising their wedding, as Ranveer didn't have time for being busy with his professional commitments back then.
