Ranveer’s mother, Anju Bhavnani is a homemaker and not much is known about her, courtesy their low-profile preference. Ranveer has an elder sister, Ritika Bhavnani, who is married, and this brother-sister duo share a great bond since childhood. Ranveer has often mentioned about his sister in the interviews and had shared that she is very particular about the Rakhis she sends to him on Raksha Bandhan.
According to a report in Lights Camera Bollywood, "Ritika was always careful about the choice of rakhi for him; she would choose one that looked good on him and whose colours didn’t bleed as Ranveer would wear the rakhi till it wore off. She would also choose the chocolates kept In the Rakhi thali; in fact, Ranveer credits his sister for his getting a sweet tooth as she would buy him chocolates almost everyday when they were young. Ranveer, in turn, is particular about touching his elder sister’s feet after she ties him the rakhi, even though it embarrasses her."

That is all about the Bhavnani family. Now coming to the Padukone clan, Deepika Padukone is the daughter of the former badminton player, Prakash Padukone, who was ranked number 1 in the world in 1980. The well-known and ace badminton player was also honoured with the Arjuna Award in 1972 and the Padma Shri in 1982 by the Government of India. On the other hand, Deepika’s sister, Anisha Padukone, who is five years younger to Deepika is an established professional golfer. Anisha along with her family hails from Bangalore and even this sister duo shares a close bond with each other. Anisha considers Deepika as a motherly figure. Speaking about her family in an interview, Deepika was quoted as saying, “We all inspire each other in different ways, but it’s my mother who inspires me the most.”
Deepika went to add, “She is the backbone of our family. My father is a celebrity and my sister started her golf career, but my mother was never in the spotlight. She is happy taking a backseat. My mother is the real hero in my family.” In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ujjala Padukone talked about her daughter’s safety and said, "As a mother, I'm paranoid of my daughters driving or stepping out alone in vulnerable areas.”
She further continued, “It is so contradictory when in their respective careers, my husband and I keep telling them to reach out to the skies. Recently, I was in Morocco with my younger daughter for her golf tournament. I had to step out in the night to get something for her and I was scared. But I was assured that women are 200 per cent safe in that traditional country. I wonder why can't women be safe any time of the day in our nation."
Speaking about Deepika’s depression in an interview, Anisha had stated, "Honestly, it was difficult for me as I had very little idea about mental illness and the role of a caregiver. Coping with mental illness affects both the individuals and members of their immediate family. There were times when I felt helpless. Fortunately for us, my mother noticed something was wrong. We then approached a counsellor who is also a very close family friend and things worked out."
