Deepika Padukone is gearing up for setting ablaze the silver screen by essaying the role of IAF pilot, Minal Rathore in the upcoming film, Fighter. The diva would be portraying such a kind of role for the first time ever, and her fans are eagerly awaiting the same. For the unversed, the film, which is helmed by Sidharth Anand, also stars Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Oberoi, Karan Singh Grover, amongst others in titular roles. With the promotions of the film being in full swing, netizens have taken note of Deepika’s absence from the same. And now, it is the filmmaker who revealed the truth behind the same.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, talented filmmaker, Sidharth Anand talked opened up about the reason behind Deepika Padukone’s absence from the promotions of Fighter. While it wouldn’t be wrong to say that her MIA has led to many conjecture stories being churned up, it is Sidharth who broke his silence on it and called it a promotional strategy. Explaining more on it, he remarked:
“This is a promotional strategy that we have taken. You will start seeing Deepika Padukone from tomorrow everywhere. People put a lot of conjectures into things. Deepika was supposed to come for the trailer launch, but she was under the weather. And now she is going to be everywhere; our strategy is such.”

All the while as Deepika wasn’t seen anywhere during the promotional spree for Fighter, it led to many people believing that the actress wasn’t really happy with her role in the film and perhaps was in some kind of disagreement with the filmmaker. However, Sidharth dispelled all such claims and shared how much the actress is important with regards to the film. In his words:
“Obviously, we can’t do without Deepika… Deepika and Hrithik’s pair is one of the major highlights. And it’s a huge excitement for me as a filmmaker to see both of them. So, I can imagine that even the audience is waiting for. You will start seeing them closer to the release. Also, we didn’t want too much of Hrithik and Deepika before the release. We wanted people to enjoy them on the big screen. We didn’t want that saturation.”
Back on December 16, 2023, the first song of Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan starrer film, Fighter was released. The peppy track, titled as Sher Khul Gaye wooed audiences in no time. However, a certain section of netizens were seemingly unimpressed by the way in which the actress promoted for the song. Well, Deepika shared the clip of her new song and gave credits to only a selected few members of the cast of the film, and not the crew, who made it all possible. Taking to the discussion portal, Reddit, netizens slammed the actress for such a gesture.

Back during her stint on Koffee With Karan 8, Deepika Padukone was asked reveal the name of that one actor, from her husband, Ranveer Singh, with whom she shares the best on-screen chemistry. In her response, the diva revealed she feels having an amazing chemistry with Hrithik Roshan. In her words:
“I think I have amazing chemistry with Hrithik which everyone is going to see."
