Deepika Padukone Took Two Months To Name Her Daughter, Reveals 'Texting Husband In Middle Of Night'

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh became proud parents of Dua Padukone Singh in September 2024. The family has been busy taking care of their princess, and their lives have been revolving around her. However, it took the family almost two months to announce their daughter's name. The actress revealed what took her so long to finalise her daughter's name.

Deepika Padukone revealed the reason for taking two months to announce her daughter's name

Recently, in an interview with Marie Claire, Deepika revealed that it wasn't until November 2024 that they were not ready to choose just any name. Deepika stated that it was important for them to hold her and let her see around the world and allow her personality to develop. Talking about it, Deepika said:

"I think what was more important for us was to first hold the baby in our arms, allow her to sort of see this new world she's come into, allow her personality to start developing a little bit."

Deepika revealed how she came with the name 'Dua' for her daughter

The actress revealed that she texted her husband, Ranveer, in the middle of the night while he was on set: 'Dua?' Ranveer loved the name and said 'yes' and that was it. Deepika further stated that her daughter's name is a beautiful summary of what she meant to the couple.  

Deepika Padukone credited her husband, Ranveer for not forcing her to have a baby early in their marriage

Deepika thanked her husband, Ranveer, for not forcing her to have a child early in their marriage. She called it a privilege as she didn't face social pressure to start a family by a certain age. In fact, Ranveer told her that it was her body, and whenever she was ready, they would go for it. She said:

"He was like, ‘It's your body. Yes, it's a together decision, but eventually it's your body that's going to go through it. So whenever you feel ready.’"

Deepika Padukone's center has shifted to her daughter, Dua

Further in the interview, Deepika revealed that since she became a mother, her center has shifted. Now, her universe is her daughter, Dua. Ranveer Singh agreed to it and said, "There is a new centerpiece of her universe, and that’s our baby girl Dua." Further, Deepika recalled her complicated pregnancy and said:

"I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant."

When Deepika Padukone's first photo with her daughter surfaced

On November 1, 2024, Deepika, in a collaborative post with Ranveer Singh, introduced the world to her daughter. In the photo, we could see her baby girl's tiny feet as she was decked up in a red anarkali, just like her mother, Deepika. Along with the picture, Deepika penned a note and revealed her daughter's name — Dua Padukone Singh.
