Denise Richards filed a criminal complaint against 53-year-old, Aaron Phypers, charging him with felony. It included two counts of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, or partner, as well as two counts of dissuading a witness by force or threat. The charge led to his arrest, which took place outside a Los Angeles courtroom during a break in proceedings. An eyewitness told Us Weekly that they saw a 'confused' Aaron arguing with sheriffs as they led him away. They felt that Aaron was unable to understand why he was being taken into custody.

Aaron Phypers' lawyer, Michael Finley, also confirmed the news to TMZ and told the media outlet that Aaron was arrested over an 'outstanding warrant' that is likely connected to Denise Richards' abuse allegations. According to an eyewitness-shared account to Us Weekly, Aaron's arrest took place outside the court, and not during the active trial session. The source described the scene as:

"[Aaron was] arrested outside the court and taken down a nearby escalator. [He] did not come back into [the] hallway."

What kind of abuse allegations did Denise Richards bring against Aaron Phypers?

Richards was previously granted a temporary restraining order against Phypers in July 2025. In court filings, she alleged that Phypers had physically abused her throughout their six-year marriage, including choking her and slamming her head. In October 2025, Denise testified that Aaron caused her at least three concussions during their marriage. She claimed that during arguments, he would grab her, pin her, and threaten to throw her from balconies. Besides her, there were also testimonies from others.

Aaron Phypers' own cousin, Kathleen McAllister, also testified against him, alleging that she witnessed an incident in 2022 where he hit Denise. However, he has repeatedly denied all abuse allegations. In his own testimony, he claimed his cousin's statements were 'made up'. He also accused Aaron of harassing him and making false claims to damage his reputation. The abuse claims are a part of their ongoing divorce battle.
