Famous actor, Dev Patel has been making headlines for his directorial debut, Monkey Man. The British actor instantly left a mark on the box office with his award-winning film, Slumdog Millionnaire, in 2008, which went on to win the Oscars. Recently, the actor appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, wherein he revealed the real reason for not attending Indian weddings, and it is hilarious. He also divulged some details about his childhood.
Recently, Dev was interviewed by Kelly Clarkson for her show. In one of the segments, Dev Patel revealed that he had stopped going to Indian weddings. He stated that they kept playing the song, Jai Ho, from his debut film, Slumdog Millionnaire, and the host quipped that they thought he might dance. To which, Dev stated that he is the worst dancer and his 'hips lie'.

During the same interview, Dev also revealed feeling ashamed of his Indian roots when he was growing up. The actor stated that studying in London wasn't the coolest thing. And he did his best not to show that part. He was quoted as saying:
"There was a time when I was ashamed of the Indian part of my heritage. When you're in school in Greater London, it's not the coolest. I'm trying what I can to not show that part, going into films like Slumdog Millionaire and doing all these kind of movies. I realised actually that with the first movie I'm going to direct, I'm not going to double down, I'm going to triple down on culture."
Dev Patel also talked about his film, Monkey Man, which is inspired by the stories of Lord Hanuman when he forgot who he was and lost his confidence. Dev Patel narrated the story of Lord Hanuman and revealed that the mighty god rediscovered himself with the help of others. Hence, Dev thought it would be an amazing story for an action movie.

Dev Patel's directorial film, Monkey Man, wherein he acts as the lead character. The story revolves around a young man who embarked on a mission to seek justice for his mother's death, which was caused by corrupt leaders. He went on to take revenge, and in order to do so, he became a hero of the powerless. The film also features Sikander Kher, Sharlto Copley, and Shobhita Dhulipala. While the film has been released all over the world, it has yet to get a clearance certificate in India.
