To this, she mentioned that their marriage was sudden and they were thinking of keeping it a secret until their grand reception. “I wanted it that way. The decision to get married was sudden. We had a court marriage, which was followed by a get-together at a resort in Lonavala in the evening. His family hosted a reception for us a day later. We decided to keep it a secret and talk about it only before our reception, which we are planning on hosting for our industry friends next month. Par waisa hua nahi, as I couldn’t stop myself from posting our pictures. It was such a beautiful moment. But Shonu (as she fondly calls Shanawaz) feels awkward about receiving attention and wanted to keep our wedding private.”

In the same conversation, Devoleena revealed how she had popped the million-dollar question and proposed to the man of her dreams, Shanwaz- both at the start of their dating period and also for marriage. Further, she lauded the love of her life and mentioned how he was a strong support system for her during her crisis. Then, sharing various anecdotes of their three years of relationship, Devoleena added:
“He is a fitness trainer. However, he runs a cable and internet business. We met at a gym around four years ago and dated for three years before we tied the knot. We started hanging out and I was soon drawn towards him. I was the one who proposed to him then, and even now when we decided to get married, I initiated it (laughs!). We didn’t realise it when we fell in love with each other. I wasn’t doing too well emotionally those days. I was suffering from a back injury, and anxiety and had almost slipped into depression. My family wasn’t here with me and he took care of me. He was a god send for me. He knows how to control my aggression and anger and calm me down. He is my rock.”
Lastly, Devoleena talked about the constant trolling she has been receiving post her wedding with Shanwaz. She mentioned the generic notion of trolling these days and explained how each person in fame has to deal with the trolls for every decision in their lives. She said:
“Who the hell are these people and who knows them? Kaun ho tum to comment on my life and choices? The problem is no matter whom you marry, you will be trolled. If you marry a rich guy, you will be called a gold digger, you marry a good-looking guy, they will tell you that it’s not a great match, you marry someone who has a heart of gold but is average looking, they will say, 'Devo, kya match dhoondha?’ Ye log doosre ki khushi bardaasht hi nahi kar sakte."

Devoleena is known for her fierce attitude and unfiltered comments. Thus, while explaining the trolling which she has faced for quite some days now, she revealed that it was only for her hubby, Shanwaz, who stopped her from giving sassy replies to the trollers. Finally, mentioning that some 'extremely concerned netizens' have sent her pictures of the fridge and suitcase, she concluded:
"If they can’t respect a woman on social media, I wonder how they may be treating their mother and sisters back home. Unko meri itni fiqr hai ki they sent me pictures of fridge and suitcase. Instead, they should pray ki hum hamesha khush rahein. Trolling amounts to harassment and can have an adverse effect on a marriage. Had it not been for my husband stopping me from replying to these trolls, I would have given it back in my own style to everyone on social media.”
It was when Devoleena had shared stunning glimpses from her wedding, the netizens noticed that her then-groom-now-husband, Shanwaz is a Muslim man. And soon, they started trolling the couple on Twitter. While one user linked her marriage to the recent murder case of Shraddha Walker by her boyfriend, Aftab. Moreover, that user reshared an old post of Devoleena from June 29, 2022, when she had shared a selfie of a few Muslim criminals who had killed an innocent kid in the name of religion and were showing off their weapons. And resharing it, the user pointed out that Devoleena’s son would also be a peace-loving creature. However, Devoleena also gave a befitting reply by slamming him for his toxic mentality. Check out:
