'Dexter Morgan' Inspired By Real Life Killer, Pedro Rodrigues Filho Who Took Revenge Post GF Died?

Back in 2006, when Dexter premiered, it was inspired by a real-life murderer called Pedro Rodrigues Filho. The audience was hooked to the concept of a serial killer who worked as a blood splatter analyst for none other than the Miami Metro Police. The premise of Dexter was first featured in a novel called Darkly Dreaming Dexter, written by Jeff Lindsay and published in 2004. It was in 2006 when the narrative of Dexter was made by Showtime into a 12-episode season. The show then created 96 episodes over like eight seasons and also a spinoff series called, Dexter: New Blood.

Fans of the series were not aware that the fictional killer was inspired by a real-life murderer whose crimes had shocked the world.

Pedro Rodrigues reportedly was the real-life vigilante killer who was an inspiration behind the fictional character of 'Dexter'. Pedro was known to have been born in Brazil and stayed there his entire life. He was known as the 'South American Punisher' and also the 'Brazilian Dexter'. Pedro was known to be an infamous serial killer who had killed an array of criminals as well as gang members. He started off reportedly between the ages of 14 and 19. 'Dexter' and Pedro had the same motive and murdered those who committed grave crimes. As seen in the series, 'Dexter's coworkers are portrayed as loyal individuals with happy families, and the environment is depicted as topical by creator James Manos Jr. The 'Dexter 'in real life had a less comfortable life than the fictional 'Dexter', but both murderers had ethical standards that they used as a source of revenge and also as a benefit to society.

Pedro and 'Dexter' were observed to have shared dark goals as adults and exhibited varied behaviours. Both were seen losing their beloved and taking revenge on the one who was responsible for the killing. As seen in the series, 'Dexter' is seen losing 'Rita' who gets murdered by the 'Trinity Killer' called, 'Arun Mitchell' before their honeymoon. Dexter then tracks down the Trinity Killer post the damage he did. Pedro, in a similar instance, reportedly murdered a full gang after his pregnant girlfriend was killed, which led him down a dark road of assassination.

Real-life 'Dexter', Pedro Rodrigues Filho, reportedly murdered 100 criminals

Pedro started killing during his teenage years back in 1968. He reportedly shot the mayor of a Brazilian city and was on the run. He had killed other rival members of a gang post his pregnant girlfriend was attacked. He hunted them, murdered, killed his own dad, as he murdered his mom. Pedro did admit to murdering over 100 people, 40 in jail. Pedro got arrested on the charges of 71 murders and spent 30 years in jail between 1973 and 2003. He had to also serve another prison sentence from 2011 to 2018, but due to his good behaviour, he was released.
