Dhanashree Verma Addresses Her Mom's Paparazzi Moment, REJECTS PR Claims, 'She's Just A Proud Mom'

Popular dancer, choreographer and doctor, Dhanashree Verma, grabbed headlines for quite some time surrounding her divorce from Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. While the buzz around her personal life had fizzled, they started once again after her mother grabbed the limelight for her recent pap interaction that went viral online. During the interaction, the proud mom won hearts when she expressed her immense pride in her daughter, but some viewed it as a PR stunt. Dhanashree has now broken her silence on the same.

Dhanashree Verma defends her mother’s genuine intentions over PR claims

The internet recently exploded with a clip of Dhanashree’s mother showering praises on her daughter’s strength and resilience following her personal challenges. While some social media users speculated that the moment was staged as part of an image-building exercise, Dhanashree clarified that there was no such intention. Speaking to ETimes, the digital star said:

"My mother recently praised my hard work, and it was such a special, organic moment. We were just walking out of a store when it happened. It wasn’t planned, just something heartfelt that was captured naturally. I usually keep my family away from the entertainment world to protect them from negativity. Why would anyone want their parents to be targeted or dragged into something they didn’t sign up for?"

The O Bedardeya dancer strongly refuted the PR angle, adding that an organic and heartfelt moment coming from a mother’s love towards her daughter was twisted to create unnecessary drama. Adding that she tries to keep her family away from media glare to avoid being targeted, Dhanashree said that she is used to the ‘noise’, and didn’t let these claims affect her family and her work. She was quoted as saying:

"My mother simply spoke the truth. She’s not playing any PR game; she’s just a proud mom. Some people tried to twist that moment, but I didn’t let it affect me, my family, or my work. I’ve been dealing with online noise since the beginning, right from when I first went viral doing song covers on Instagram and YouTube.”

Dhanashree became the target of massive trolling, gossip and false narratives during and after her divorce from Chahal, with some adding her name to a certain relationship. However, having faced online trolling and harsh judgments for years, she has learned to block out negativity and stay focused on her journey. She also stressed that her mindset has remained the same both before and after her divorce, and now, she chooses positivity over unnecessary chatter. Dhanashree remarked:

"People now say my fame is tied to a certain relationship, but that’s not true. I had already built a name for myself in the industry… Trolling and negativity are, unfortunately, part of fame. But I’ve learned to focus on what matters: my craft, my growth, and the people who genuinely support me. There will always be those who focus only on the negative, but I choose not to engage. You attract what you focus on, and I choose positivity. Whether it was before or after my divorce, my mindset hasn’t changed.”

Dhanashree Verma married cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal on December 20, 2020, in a private ceremony in Gurugram. After 18 months, reports surfaced of trouble in their marriage, leading to their separation. On February 5, 2025, they filed for divorce by mutual consent, which was finalised on March 20, 2025. Yuzvendra is now reportedly dating RJ Mahvash.
