Dhanush Calls Love An 'Overrated Emotion' At Trailer Launch Of 'Tere Ishk Mein', After His Divorce

Dhanush and Kriti Sanon are all set for their upcoming romantic film, Tere Ishk Mein, which is scheduled to release on November 28, 2025. For those who don't know, the trailer of the same was officially dropped on November 14, 2025, and within a few minutes it generated a lot of buzz and excitement among fans. Well, now a clip from the trailer launch has gone viral, in which Dhanush is seen talking about love. 

Dhanush calls love an 'overrated emotion'

On November 15, 2025, a clip from the trailer launch of Tere Ishk Mein was shared on social media, which featured Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. In the clip, the lead cast of the film were asked 'what love means to them'. Hearing this, Dhanush first took a long pause and then replied, 'I don't know.' Then when joked that, 'Dhanush is too long to explain this to you', the Idli Kadai actor called the emotion overrated and said:

"I think it's just another overrated emotion."

Hearing this reply from Dhanush, the crowd went crazy and started hooting for him. However, it was Kriti Sanon, who interrupted in between and shared, "I don't think Shankar agrees with you at all." For those who don't know, 'Shankar' is the name of Dhanush's character in the upcoming romantic film, Tere Ishk Mein. And he is most likely to be madly in love with 'Mukti' (played by Kriti Sanon). Replying to Kriti's statement, Dhanush shared:

"I already said I am nothing like Shankar."

Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s divorce

For those who don’t know, Dhanush was once married to Rajinikanth’s daughter, Aishwarya. Reportedly, the two got married in 2004 in a grand wedding ceremony in Chennai. The two also welcomed two sons, Yatra and Lingaa. However, after staying together for 18 long years, the duo announced their separation in 2022, and later filed a divorce. For the unversed, Dhanush and Aishwarya had shared a joint statement on social media to announce their separation. Their statement could be read as:

"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been one of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa/Dhanush and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand each other as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this."

The trailer of Tere Ishk Mein opened with introducing 'Shankar' (played by Dhanush) as a Flight Lieutenant and 'Mukti' (played by Kriti Sanon), looking all devastated and with teary eyes. Soon, the trailer picked up pace as it told the love story of 'Shankar' and 'Mukti'. The 3-minute trailer features multiple moments of 'Mukti' and 'Shankar', including both lovey-dovey moments and heartbreaking moments. As soon as the trailer was released, fans were quick to develop their own theories and shared that in the film, viewers will get to see 'Shankar's' obsessive love in the first half and 'Mukti's' in the second half.
