The iconic hero of the Indian cinema, Dharmendra, breathed his last on November 24, 2025, bidding an emotional farewell to his loved ones. It is the end of a beautiful era, ruled by the man who always believed in working till his last breath. The actor literally worked till his last breath, and his last film, Ikkis, will be all the more special.

Dharmendra’s heartfelt poem for Ikkis made fans emotional

A few moments back, the makers of Ikkis released a poem written and narrated by Dharmendra, which is used in his last film, Ikkis. The poem titled, ‘Aj bhi ji karda hai, Pind apne nu jaanwa’, talks about Dharma ji’s urge to return to his soil. The poem is a tribute to his roots and his yearning to return to his ancestral village.

Netizens react to Dharmendra’s handwritten poem for Ikkis

As soon as the poem was released, netizens took to the comment section to share their emotions, revealing that Ikkis will be a lot more special. The lyrics of the poem touched many people’s hearts as Dharmendra was always known as a man rooted in his culture. One user wrote, “Now this last film of Dharam JI will make us cry more about him and his lovely memories.”

Dharmendra played the role of ‘Brigadier M. L. Khetarpal’ in Ikkis

On the day of his death, the makers of Ikkis, released the veteran actor’s first look in the film. Ikkis is produced by Maddock Films under the direction of Dinesh Vijan and is directed by Sriram Raghavan. Agastya Nanda will play the central character of Arun Khetarpal, was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra after being martyred at the age of 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Dharmendra played the role of 'Brigadier M. L. Khetarpal', the father of 21-year-old martyred Indian army officer, Arun Khetarpal.

When Dharmendra talked about dying with his ‘boots’ on

In 1983, Dharmendra’s film, Razia Sultan, co-starring Hema Malini, tanked at the box office. It was believed that the film’s failure would end Dharmendra’s career forever. In a 1983 interview with Hindustan Times, the veteran actor was asked whether the year marked the end of his career. In response, the veteran actor expressed his wish to work till his last breath. He was quoted as saying:
