Meet Dharmendra's Lesser-Known Daughters, Vijeta-Ajeeta, Older Than Bobby, Stayed Away From Films

Dharmendra was once one of the most sought-after superstars who ruled over Bollywood as India's very own 'He-Man' for over two decades. Apart from his charismatic personality, handsome looks, and intense acting, Dharmendra made headlines for his personal life as much as his stardom. His second marriage to Hema Malini sent shockwaves throughout the nation. 

Not only were they one of the most iconic on-screen couples of Bollywood, but Dharmendra was also a married man with children. Since he did not divorce his first wife, Prakash Kaur, either, the star's family dynamics have always been a subject of scrutiny. However, amid all this curiosity, very few people know that apart from Sunny and Bobby Deol, Dharmendra also has two daughters, Vijeta and Ajeeta, from his first wife. Dharmendra married his first wife, Prakash Kaur, at the age of 19 in 1954, before setting foot in the film industry. By the time he rose to stardom in the late '60s, the Shalimar actor was already a father of four. Dharmendra's oldest and youngest sons from his first wife are both popular actors and almost match their father in their fame. Sunny Deol was born in 1957 as Ajay Singh Deol. Meanwhile, Bobby was born as Vijay Singh Deol in 1969. 

However, there is a lesser-known fact about Dharmendra's family with his first wife. Between Sunny and Bobby, Prakash also gave birth to their two daughters. Vijeta Deol was born in 1962, and Ajeeta in 1966. Just like their brothers, the older Deol sisters were brought up to be humble, despite their father being one of the greatest superstars of India at the time. However, whereas Ajay and Vijay (Sunny and Bobby) grew up to follow their father's footsteps and became stars themselves, Vijeta and Ajeeta chose a life away from the film industry and limelight, like their mother, Prakash.

According to India Forums, Vijeta resides in New Delhi and has chosen a business path over films. She is married to businessman, Vivek Gill, and is the director of Rajkalmal Holdings and Trading Private Limited. The couple has two children, Prerna and Sahil. Prerna is reportedly a writer and an editor. Interestingly, although Vijeta herself has stayed far away from the film industry, she still has a connection to it through her father. Dharmendra's production house is named after her called Vijayta Films. Films like Betaab, Ghayal, Barsaat, and more were made under this banner. 

Ajeeta Deol lives abroad and has an interesting career trajectory

Ajeeta Deol lives in California, U.S.A. As per the same report, Dharmendra's second daughter is a woman of many talents and professions. She has practised as a psychologist, teacher, academician, and even a dentist. Although nothing is known about her husband, reports suggest that she is a mother of two. Her daughters, Nikita and Priyanka, also work in dentistry like their mother.

Dharmendra met and fell in love with his co-star, Hema Malini, while already being a married man with four children. They starred in the 1970 film, Tum Haseen Main Jawaan, and started dating. A decade later, they tied the knot. However, Dharmendra did not divorce his first wife, Prakash Kaur and maintained two different families. The four older Deol siblings have two half-sisters. Dharmendra and Hema Malini became parents to Esha and Ahana Deol in 1981 and 1985, respectively.

In the biography, Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl, many things about the Deol family dynamics came to life. Dharmendra has two households, one with his first wife, Prakash, and another with Hema. These two families of the actor do not overlap or interfere with each other. In fact, in the same book, Esha Deol revealed that it took her thirty years to meet her step-mother, Prakash. Even Hema Malini talked about why she doesn't meet with Prakash and said:

“I didn’t want to disturb anyone. I am happy with whatever Dharamji did for me and my daughters. He played the role of a father, like any father would do. I guess I am happy with that.”

From what is seen of these two households, Sunny and Bobby share a sibling-like bond with their half-sisters, Esha and Ahana. However, the younger sisters' relationship with Vijeta and Ajeeta isn't well known, since the two older Deol sisters aren't seen much in public. Meanwhile, it was also recently revealed that Dharmendra lives with Prakash, while his second wife, Hema Malini, has a bungalow of her own where her daughters lived before getting married.
