Ameesha Patel Reveals Dharmendra Was In A 'Critical Condition', Shares His Last Interaction With Her

Veteran actor, Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89. It was in the last few weeks that he was admitted to the hospital. Now, Ameesha Patel shared a few details about the same.

Ameesha Patel Reveals Dharmendra Was In A 'Critical Condition', Shares His Last Interaction With Her

Dharmendra, one of the well-known Hindi actors, passed away at the age of 89. It was only two weeks ago, when Dharmendra was discharged from the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, after being treated there, reportedly for a week. While not many details about his health condition are known, back then, false rumors about his death left his fans worried to the core.

However, after two weeks, on November 24, 2025, Dharmendra bid farewell to the world. Dharmendra's family is yet to release any kind of statement over this heartbreaking news. The veteran actor's passing away left a void in the world of cinema, as well as in the hearts of his fans. Ameesha Patel was one of the celebrities who paid a visit to the actor when he was admitted to the hospital.

Now, speaking to News18, Ameesha shared a few details about her visit to Dharmendra. With a grieving heart, Ameesha shared that she couldn't reach out to the family yet, given the fact that they are in a state of emotional pain. She further added that when she and other celebrities paid a visit to Dharmendra in the hospital, he was in a very critical condition. As per Ameesha, the actor's family was tense, and they stayed there for only 10 minutes just to hug Sunny Deol and return. As per Ameesha:

"It was a very tense situation and they needed to be left alone even at that time. He was in a very critical situation. Whether it was Shah Rukh, Salman or me, we were there briefly for ten minutes just to hug Sunny. It was a moment he couldn’t wrap his head around since it was about a person he loves the most."

Ameesha Patel recalled her last conversation with Dharmendra

Ameesha Patel, in the same conversation, shared that she was supposed to make a film with Dharmendra before Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, and it was then that she used to interact with the late actor a lot. She mentioned that Dharmendra made her feel like she was part of the Deol family.

Ameesha stated that it was during Aamir Khan's daughter, Ira Khan's, reception, when she had her last conversation with the veteran actor, in which they talked about the film they were supposed to do together. Ameesha mentioned that Dharmendra had a sharp memory and he would always hug him and address her as 'Sakina', whenever they would meet anywhere. Ameesha could be quoted as saying:

"Last year when I met him at Aamir’s daughter’s reception, he reminded me of a film we were supposed to do together where he was to play my father. He had such a sharp memory. Every time he would meet me, he would hug me and say, ‘Arrey meri Sakina!’ He always made me feel as if I was part of the Deols."

Dharmendra's last movie

Dharmendra once said that as an actor, he would believe in dying with his boots on, which means he would want to die while still working, and it somehow turned out to be true. The day Dharmendra passed away, the poster of his last film, Ikkis, was released. Dharma ji's fans would be able to see him one last time in this movie. His last movie was back in 2023, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, with which he grabbed a whole lot of attention, for his acting skills, even in his 80s. A young boy who wanted to be like Dilip Kumar became a star of the Hindi film industry, with a career spanning 65 years and contributing to more than 300 films.
