The 'He-Man' of the Indian film industry, Dharmendra, is one of the most successful actors of all time. The legendary actor enjoys an illustrious career, and it still looks incredibly tough to pick someone to be the heir of his legacy.  However, not many people know that Dharmendra was immensely inspired by the late legendary actor, Dilip Kumar. In many of his interviews, Dharmendra had expressed his regret of not working with him in more films.

After Dilip Kumar's demise on July 7, 2021, due to prolonged illness at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital, his one of the biggest admirers, Dharmendra, had found it hard to digest the shocking truth. The actor dropped multiple tweets on Twitter, revealing the pain he was going through after learning about his 'brother', Dilip Kumar's death.

Iconic actor, Dharmendra was one of the celebrities, who had visited late Dilip Kumar's residence to console his family after his demise and pay his last respect to the greatest actor in Indian cinema's history. On July 7, 2021, Dharmendra took to his Twitter handle and shared a painful picture from Dilip saab's residence, in which he can be seen placing his hands on the late actor's face. Along with the picture, Dharmendra revealed Saira Banu's words to him that broke his heart. His tweet can be read as "Saira ne jab kaha. 'Dharam, Dekho Sahab ne palak jhapki hai' Dosto, jaan nikal gai meri. Maalik mere pyaare bhai ko jannat naseeb kare.”

After some minutes, Dharmendra dropped another tweet, in which he clarified that he doesn't know how to fake emotions, which is why he always says what he feels without any filters. The Sholay actor stated that it was extremely tough for him to hold his emotions after the demise of Dilip Kumar. He wrote, “Dosto, mujhe dikhwa nahin aata lekin main apne jazbaat par qaaboo bhi nahin paata. Apne samajh ke kah jaata hoon” in his tweet.

When the news of Dilip Kumar's demise had made its way onto the internet and television screens, Dharmendra was one of the first celebrities, who had shared touching messages and pictures with the legendary actor. In the early hours of July 7, 2021, Dharmendra had taken to his Twitter handle and had shared a memorable picture with Dilip saab. He had also called him his 'most affectionate brother' in Bollywood industry. Dharmendra had penned, "Extremely Extremely sad, to loose my most affectionate brother in the industry. Jannat naseeb ho" in his heart-wrenching tweet.

For the unversed, Dharmendra used to share an extremely close bond with late Dilip Kumar and his wife, Saira Banu, which is why the actor was inconsolable after Dilip saab's demise. In an interview with newstracklive.com, Dharmendra had recalled his first-ever meeting with his favourite, Dilip Kumar. He had said, "When I wanted to meet him for the first time, I wondered who would introduce me to Dilip Kumar. Then his sister did so. He didn't let me feel that he was a very big celebrity, he always met as if we were his brother."

Going further in his interview, Dharmendra had also opened up about the emotions he was going through after learning about the passing of Dilip Kumar. He had said, "I have just tolerated this great shock, my brother is gone. He had a very special relationship with me. I am extremely sad. I used to go to see him. This watch was supposed to come one day. His memories will always be with me."
