The right-handed batter and wicketkeeper is one of the best young talents we have in the country. As per multiple reports, Dhruv Jurel received the call-up for India's Test against England after Ishan Kishan reportedly took a break from cricket due to mental fatigue. Not only Ishan but star bowler, Mohammed Shami is also not included in the team due to his ankle injury he picked in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. The right-handed wicketkeeper batsman, Dhruv Jurel was born on January 21, 2001, in Uttar Pradesh's Agra. According to multiple reports, Dhruv completed his schooling at Agra's Army Public School. After completing his studies, he started preparing for NDA, following his father's advice. However, he was inclined towards it. Eventually, Dhruv made his way into Uttar Pradesh's U-14, U-16, and U-19 teams.
For the unversed, Dhruv Jurel's father, Nem Singh Jurel is an ex-armyman, who even took part in the historic Kargil War in 1999. After his son, Dhruv completed his schooling, Nem Singh wanted him to join the army. The doting father provided all the support to his son and sent him to swimming classes so that his stamina and overall physique could be improved. Although Dhruv had started preparing for NDA, but in his mind, he was committed to cricket.
After taking proper cricket coaching, Dhruv Jurel started playing for Uttar Pradesh's U-14, U-16 and U-19 teams. However, it was in 2020 when he was named as the vice-captain of India's 2020 U-19 Cricket World Cup. After this, Dhruv made his Twenty20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy back in January 2021.
Rajasthan Royals bought Dhruv Jurel in the 2022 IPL tournament, and it was a dream come true moment for him. In the same year, the youngster even represented Uttar Pradesh in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy. However, the biggest moment in his cricketing career was hitting 32 runs in just 15 balls in his debut match for Rajasthan Royals against Punjab Kings XI on April 5, 2023.

Once, in an old interview, Dhruv Jurel admitted that it was his father's wish to see him join the Indian army. The cricketer admitted that when his father sent him to take swimming lessons, he saw a boy playing cricket and hitting sixes. It was when he decided to play cricket, and instead of going to swimming classes, he started playing cricket.
When Dhruv's father came to know about it from somewhere, he scolded Dhruv, but the latter convinced his dad about his dream to become a cricketer. After which, Dhruv trained at Springdale Cricket Academy in Agra and Aster Cricket Academy in Noida.

Once, in an interview after making his debut in the IPL (Indian Premier League), Dhruv Jurel opened up about one of the most embarrassing moments of his life. The cricketer revealed that when he was 14 years old, he told his parents that he wanted a bat from Kashmir Willow. The bat's price was between Rs. 1500 and Rs. 2000, which was too much for Dhruv's family. But Dhuv was in his teenage years and blackmailed his parents by locking himself inside the bathroom.
The youngster told his parents he would leave home if they did not buy him a Kashmir Willow bat. The expensive bat was out of his father's financial reach, so his mother sold her gold chain for her son's happiness. Revealing the same, Dhruv admitted that it was really foolish of him to ask for such an expensive bat from his parents despite being aware of their financial struggles.
The cricketer admitted that it was an embarrassing mistake from him. However, in the same interview, Dhruv Jurel also recalled how his parents once came to the stadium to watch him play, and it was when his father told his mother, "Teri sone ki chain vasool ho gayi" Dhruv admitted that it was the proudest moment of his life.
