'Dhumketu' Early Reviews, Dev And Subhashree Ganguly Starrer Makes Fans Emotional

Dev and Subhashree Ganguly starrer, Dhumketu, has finally hit the big screens after a nine-year hiatus. The film is directed by renowned Bengali filmmaker, Kaushik Ganguly. For the unversed, Dev and Subhashree are popular not only as an on-screen couple, but their romance also continued off-screen. However, even after the ex-couple didn’t appear together on-screen for 12 years, fans are left in a frenzy after the duo came together for the trailer launch of Dhumketu. As the romantic action thriller has finally been released, here's what the early reviews of Dhumketu are saying about the film.

Dev and Subhashree Ganguly’s Dhumketu made the audience emotional and left them in tears

It is a big day for Dev and Subhashree Ganguly, as after nine years of hiatus, their romantic action thriller film, Dhumketu, has been released in theatres. For the unversed, Dhumketu has hit the theatres on August 14, 2025. Movie buffs watched the film and shared their reviews on X (formerly Twitter). Sharing that the movie was magical, that will make people emotional, a X user wrote, "One word review for #Dhumketu - BRILLIANT storytelling Magical. Don’t forget to take a handkerchief."

Dev’s production company, Dev Entertainment Ventures, shared a video featuring audience discussions about the film, Dhumketu. They shared how the film made them emotional and left them in tears. Calling Dev and Subhashree the number 1 on-screen jodi, a woman said, "I liked it so much. It is a very emotional movie. Dev and Subhashree no. 1 jodi."

Another person said, "The storyline of the movie was so good. The movie made me so emotional." In fact, a few audience members were asked to rate Dhumketu on a scale of 1 to 10. In response, many audience gave more than 10, and some gave a 10/10 rating to the movie. Calling the movie a must-watch, a man said, "It is a must-watch film. Everyone's acting was on point. Outstanding movie. The chemistry of Dev and Subhashree is marvellous." Another person shared, "The movie was too good. I was waiting to watch it." Another person said, "The movie was good, but the ending broke my heart." Sharing how much Dhumketu made the audience emotional, a person shared, "Many in the hall cried after watching the movie. They just couldn’t hold back their tears." A fan shared:

Dhumketu is a romantic action thriller directed by Kaushik Ganguly, who is well known for his films like Nagarkirtan, Bishorjon, Bastu Shaap, Apur Panchali and many more. Dhumketu is the sixth film of Dev and Subhashree, where they appeared as an on-screen couple. For the uninitiated, Dev and Subhashree appeared in films such as Challenge, Paran Jai Jaliya Re, Romeo, Khokababu, and Khoka 420.

Dhumketu is produced by Rana Sarkar and Dev under the production banner of Dag Creative Media and Dev Entertainment Ventures. Initially, the film was set for release on October 7, 2016. The film also stars famous Bengali actor, Rudranil Ghosh and veteran actor, Chiranjeet Chakraborty.
