'Dhurandhar 2' Who Is Nabil Gabol? Politician Reacts To 'Jameel Jamali' Links, 'Malign My Character'

Dhurandhar 2 (also known as Dhurandhar: The Revenge) has fans frenzied with its well-crafted plot, unexpected twists, and suitable background scores, topped off by stellar performances from its cast. The second part of the Aditya Dhar directorial has been dominating headlines since its theatrical release on March 18, 2026. Each character of the film has been given a specific purpose by the writer, with some being loosely based on real-life people. One of the most talked-about characters right now is Rakesh Bedi's 'Jameel Jamali,' which is reportedly inspired by Pakistani politician, Nabil Gabol, and he has now reacted to it.

Who is Pakistan's Nabil Gabol?

Nabil Gabol is a veteran Pakistani politician and a prominent tribal chief of the Gabol tribe based in Lyari, Karachi. Born November 16, 1962, he is 63 years old as of March 2026. Nabil reportedly currently serves as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) representing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) from the NA-239 Karachi South-I constituency. He has been a member of the National Assembly for multiple terms (2002–2015 and 2024–present). He also served as the Minister of State for Ports and Shipping (2008–2011) under Pakistan's 16th Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gillani.

Nabil's impressive political portfolio includes his record as the youngest Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly from 1993 to 1996. The Pakistani politician is currently in the spotlight following the release of the Indian movie, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The reason is that Nabil expressed unhappiness with the portrayal of 'Jameel Jamali', a character he publicly revealed was based on him.

Why has Nabil Gabol criticised 'Jameel Jamali's' portrayal in Dhurandhar 2?

'Jameel Jamali', portrayed by veteran actor, Rakesh Bedi, was presented as a shrewd, scheming and selfish Pakistani politician from Lyari, Karachi, in part 1 of Dhurandhar. However, in the second instalment, one of the last scenes featuring 'Jameel' and the protagonist, 'Hamza Ali Mazhari'/ 'Jaskirat Singh Rangi', portrayed the former in an entirely different light. The scene became the film's most significant surprise and has dominated discussion forums ever since.

The scene includes 'Jaskirat' completing his mission in Pakistan and being entrusted to another Indian spy to drive him safely to the Indo-Pakistan border, where a plane would be waiting to take him to his homeland. To everyone's surprise, the fellow spy is revealed to be 'Jameel Jamali', the father of 'Yalina Jamali' (played by Sara Arjun), who revealed that he was placed in Karachi decades ago to operate deep within the Pakistani political machinery. This part of the plot was entirely fictional and not based on its real-life inspiration, i.e., Nabil Gabol.

Nabil Gabol has reacted strongly and negatively to the last scene of 'Jamil', alleging that the filmmakers tarnished his image by spreading misinformation. According to greatandhra.com, the Pakistani politician expressed worries that illiterate or misinformed viewers in Pakistan, who might watch the film through VPNs or illegal downloads, could mistake the fictional portrayal for reality and see him as an Indian spy, potentially putting him at risk. Denying any connection between the actual him and the movie's portrayal, Nabil stated:

"It's not me. Don't believe whatever is depicted in the film. It's a crooked attempt by Indian filmmakers to deliberately distort and malign my character. But that's not me."

Although Nabil expressed extreme dissatisfaction regarding the character loosely based on him, he jokingly remarked that he lacked the funds required to take legal action against the filmmakers of Dhurandhar internationally. Following his public statements, Nabil Gabol has been trolled online for his drastically different take on the character's portrayal in Dhurandhar 2 compared to the first part. Some alleged that, after Dhurandhar's release, he had proudly claimed the character was based on his life; however, his stance shifted following the sequel's release.
