'Dhurandhar' Actress, Saumya Tandon Shares Her Working Experience With Akshaye Khanna, 'I Truly...'

Saumya Tandon is widely known for her role as 'Anita Vibhuti Narayan Mishra' in the popular TV sitcom, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Currently, her role of 'Ulfat' has become the talk of the town. Fans can’t stop talking about her due to her strong performance in the spy-action thriller, Dhurandhar. She played the on-screen wife of Akshaye Khanna in the film. A while ago, Saumya shared her working experience with the Bollywood star, Akshaye, through a lengthy, heartfelt post on Instagram.

Saumya Tandon recalls first shot with co-star, Akshaye Khanna

On December 18, 2025, Saumya Tandon took to her Instagram handle and shared some BTS snaps from the sets of Dhurandhar. For the unversed, Akshaye Khanna played the role of 'Rehman Dakait', while Saumya portrayed the role of 'Ulfat', 'Rehman Dakait's' wife. Along with the snaps, the Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain actress penned a lengthy, heartfelt note. In the note, Saumya shared that the first scene that she shot for the film was in Amritsar. She revealed that it was November 2024, and she was both nervous and excited at the same time. She added that her first morning shot was with her on-screen husband, Akshaye. She wrote:

"The very first scene I shot for the film, in Amritsar, where we see Rehman Dakait’s haveli. It was November last year, and I was a mix of nerves and excitement. My first morning shot was with Akshaye lighting his cigarette, silently urging him to take revenge."

Saumya Tandon expresses her wish to work with Akshaye Khanna again

In her note, Saumya shared her working experience with Bollywood star, Akshaye Khanna in Dhurandhar. She shared that they barely had a chance to talk, but when the camera rolled, she felt an instant connection with him. Saumya expressed that she felt they shared a wonderful chemistry. She mentioned it was dream coming true moment for her as she got the opportunity to work with Akshaye, from whom she could learn a lot of things. She also expressed her wish to work with Akshaye Khanna again. She wrote:

"Akshaye is pure magic. We barely had a chance to talk, but the moment the camera rolled, there was an instant connection. I truly feel we share a wonderful chemistry. It’s an absolute dream to have a co-actor like him-such a pure artist, with so much to learn from. More than anything, it’s a joy to perform with someone of his calibre. I truly hope we’re paired together again someday. Praying."

Saumya Tandon reveals she had slapped Akshaye Khanna once and not seven times

In the same note, Saumya recalled the emotional scene where her on-screen son’s death was featured. The Dhurandhar actress shared that in that scene, she felt everything at once. She opened up about the anger that she vented on her on-screen husband and revealed that she had slapped Bollywood star, Akshaye once and not seven times. Saumya mentioned that initially, she tried to cheat, but with director, Aditya Dhar’s insistence, she had to be authentic with the scene’s actions. She wrote:

"I felt everything at once- anger towards my husband for being the reason behind our son’s death, helpless desperation, and the deep, shared pain between us. And yes, I slapped Akshaye once (not seven times!)-for real- during his close-up, after Aditya insisted it had to be authentic. I was hoping to cheat, but no such luck. My breakdown close-up was done in a single take."

In a candid conversation with Filmy Gyan, Naveen Kaushik shared that the emotional scene in which Saumya slapped Akshaye Khanna in Dhurandhar was retaken seven times. He explained that both Akshaye and director, Aditya, wanted her to get into the character and make the scene look stronger.
