Aditya Dhar Puts An End To Rumours, Confirms 'Dhurandhar' Is Not Based On Late Major Mohit Sharma

Recently, director of the film, 'Dhurandhar', Aditya Dhar put an end to all rumours, as he confirmed that his film is not based on the life of Major Mohit Sharma.

Aditya Dhar Puts An End To Rumours, Confirms 'Dhurandhar' Is Not Based On Late Major Mohit Sharma

A few days ago, fans on social media went gaga for the trailer of the much-anticipated film, Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh. With its intense visuals and powerful narrative, the film soon became the much-awaited film of Aditya Dhar. Days after the trailer released, conversations started on the internet, which mentioned that Ranveer would be playing the role of late Major Mohit Sharma in the film. However, the director of the film has now opened up about the same.

On November 24, 2025, late Major Mohit Sharma’s brother, Madhur took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to question NDTV and Aditya Dhar regarding the rumours around Ranveer Singh playing the role of late Major Mohit Sharma. Madhur shared a screenshot from a NDTV article and asked:

"Respected @ndtv, A credible media house is expected to report facts and not mere *speculations ". People are having a field day adding to it. The parents are waiting for that one confirmation whether this is about their son. @AdityaDharFilms I don't think it's Mohit, do you?"

Now, on November 26, 2025, the Uri: The Surgical Strike director, Aditya Dhar replied to him and denied all the rumours. He revealed that it is an official announcement that his upcoming film is not a biopic and in future if he makes one, it will be with the consent of the family. His reply can be read as:

"Hi, sir - our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of brave heart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honors his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us. Jai Hind."

Dhurandhar is an upcoming Bollywood film, directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun. The film is all set to release in theatres on December 5, 2025. For those who do not know, the trailer showed Ranveer in a long-hair, full-beard and blood-soaked avatar. He was described as the 'Wrath Of God'.

For the unversed, the makers of the film marketed the film as 'inspired by true events', which sparked rumours around the film being the biopic of Major Mohit Sharma. By the look of Ranveer Singh and the plot of the film, many eagle-eyed fans assumed it was based on Mohit Sharma.

Who is late Major Mohit Sharma?

Major Mohit Sharma was an Indian army officer, who was well-known for his courage in the Jammu & Kashmir war. Reportedly, he was born in Haryana and he was commissioned into the Army in December 1999. Throughout his time in the Army, he built a strong reputation with leadership skills and bravery. During the 2009 war in north Kashmir, he led a Bravo Assault Team and during the war, he eliminated multiple terrorists. However, in the attempt to save his own team, he was severely injured. Later, he was awarded with the Ashoka Chakra for his sacrifice.
