Diane Keaton's family began the statement by expressing their gratitude for the outpouring support they have received in such a difficult time. In the statement, they further confirmed that Diane Keaton passed away from pneumonia. The statement could be read as saying:

"The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11."

In the same statement, the family further shared the causes Diane Keaton was passionate about. They shared that Diane loved animals and was always eager to assist those in need. The family urged fans to make a donation to local food banks and animal shelters in honour of her memory. They were quoted as saying:

"She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her."

However, fans and nearby people would often spot the actress taking her dog, Reggie, on daily walks.
