Heidi Klum Fell In Love With Her Bodyguard, Martin Kristen, During Her Divorce From Singer, Seal

“Martin’s a great man and recently we just got to know each other from a completely different side. He’s been with our family for the last four years. He’s cared for our four children and helped us tremendously. I trust him with my children’s life.”

While Heidi relied on Martin for emotional support, her estranged husband, Seal, wasn’t too pleased with the reports and criticised the supermodel. In an interview with TMZ, Seal openly declared his dismay over her relationship with Martin and said:

“I wish she had shown a little more class and had at least waited until we had separated before she started fornicating with the help. I certainly don't expect Heidi to all of a sudden become a nun, but as always my main priority is the emotional well-being of my children, and to be quite honest if there is going to be someone else there in their lives, I would much rather it was a familiar face.”

Seal later apologised for his harsh words, but they stemmed from his frustration at learning about the couple through headlines. A source close to Seal revealed that he felt betrayed as he considered Martin a good friend. As per the source:

“What really bothers Seal was this guy was a dear friend. They called each other ‘brother.’ He feels betrayed.”

What led to Heidi Klum and Martin Kristen’s breakup?

Heidi Klum and Martin Kristen’s relationship was highly publicised because her estranged husband, Seal, accused the model of having an affair with her bodyguard while she was still married to Seal. Heidi and Martin dated for a year and a half before calling it quits in 2014.

According to People, the couple split because their relationship had run its course. After their romantic split, Heidi and Martin also ended their professional relationship. According to multiple sources, Heidi and Martin remained on good terms and remained great friends after the breakup.

Her first marriage was to hairstylist, Ric Pipino when she was just 24 years old in 1997, but they parted ways in 2002. After her divorce, she had a whirlwind romance with billionaire, Italian Formula 1 racing chief Flavio Briatore. 

Soon Heidi became pregnant, but the couple split while she was expecting. She gave birth to their daughter, Helene Leni Boshoven Samuel, in 2004. Heidi then married singer Seal in 2005, and he adopted Leni as his own daughter. The couple went on to have three biological children together: sons Henry and Johan, and daughter Lou.

In 2012, Heidi and Seal announced their split, while their divorce was finalised in 2014. Heidi found love with New York art dealer Vito Schnabel in 2014, but that too couldn’t stand the test of time, and the couple split in 2017. In 2018, she began dating 17 years younger, guitarist Tom Kaulitz and got married in 2019. The couple is still going strong.
